How long for carpet?

On July 19 I ordered some carpet for a room at the head of my stairs and a runner for the steps to be made from the same carpeting. I am still waiting for them to call and say they are ready to install. It wasn't a carpet they had on hand so I know it had to be ordered. I did put in a call to them this morning and am waiting for a call back

I am just curious how long others have had to wait for something like this. I don't have a lot of experience with carpeting.

It definitely can vary. When we moved we had all new carpets installed on the second floor and stairs. One of the carpets was out of stock. My salesperson checked with the factory and told us that it would be 3 months for that one carpet. The factory had a production schedule and if we wanted that carpet in that color we had to wait until they made more of it.

My ordered w /w carpet took about 2 to 3 weeks from order to install.

I would give them a call for an ETA.

My cousin ran into waiting and waiting, and found out that the installer kept

putting newer, but, bigger jobs ahead of him. When he told the salesman that he knew about that...and if he wanted the sale he better get it installed.

Well, what do you know....an installer became available! The carpet had

been waiting for the installer. My cousin lives in a small town and everyone

knows everyone else, so I guess the Salesman thought he better do something. My cousin has a new room he is doing now...but going elsewhere

and telling the new place about this experience. ;) Nothing new, I guess.

We just had new carpet installed in two bedrooms. I can't recall exactly how long before the new carpet arrived but it was in the 4 - 6 weeks range. We had to wait for it to be delivered from a factory in Georgia.

When we had carpeting installed on our stairs last winter I believe it was 4 weeks from order until installation. We also chose a pattern in stock.

Seems long. If they haven't called you with updates or an ETA since the purchase, this wouldn't seem to be a very well run operation. Have you paid them?

I had carpet installed a few years ago with a big orange box store. They gave me an estimated timeline up front and I had to call and push the issue when they suddenly told me it would be much longer. I believe it ended up taking a few weeks (maybe 3 or 4) before they came to install.

When you ordered it did they give you an approximate install date? Shipping ’in Stock’ from the mills usually takes a few days. If you ordered something special it does take longer. I sure hope this was explained to you?
