Yes you can. The success depends what you use WITH the tile, and on the bath floor. The floor is great place for the tile as well........

Putting it on the floor isn't an option, so the walls are the potential compromise. The tiles aren't glossy, though, so I wasn't sure if they could hold up on a shower wall. Do I seal them?

My other bathroom has white subway tile and I regret going with a white grout (but I love it otherwise).

Mirror and 2 pendant lights are all bright reds, oranges, and blues (talavera style)

I'd have a more limited color palette for walls and lighting, but that's me. : )

My only concern is that black vinyl floor tile will show every speck of dirt, hair, footprint, etc

I like be this tile! Do you have a picture of the mirror and pendant lights? The colors sound like they may clash a bit. I LOVE anything talavera but it doesn’t sound like it will go well with your other selections. I would love to see it though.

the mirror will be pretty far away from the shower in the room. I just wanted some splashes of color. Most of my house is pretty boring so I was looking forward to a bit of fun in the bath. My husband is pretty set on that floor

Can you use the mirrors in your other bathroom? I like the separate pieces but the mirrors are going to be a visual clash with the shower tile even if they aren’t next to each other. I need to do a cost effective master bath remodel since everything else in my house has fallen apart (new roof + sheathing, all new HVAC, lots of plumbing and electrical work, new flooring, and hall bath gut in the last 4 years) and we MUST replace the deck and kitchen too; I like your sourcing and choices! I am in LOVE!! The mirror and lights, OMG. I love the porcelain tile but it clashes with the rest of the look. I would just go for the talavera look and do the shower in similar talavera tile mixed with solids. Maybe not any of the following photos exactly but inspiration to make your bathroom really stand out.

Real talavera isn't in the budget, aside from that lucky mirror find. I do have another space I could use the mirror....

Yes, I know black floors show a lot. But, then I clean it up and it looks pretty again. My MIL said the same thing about my hardwood floors, and my comment was always that she had the same dust in her carpet...the only difference is that I can tell when I've done a sufficient job cleaning up.

Way too many stars in your show. What's the thing? Find another place for the mirror, or another place for the shower wall tile.

The baby blue wall chip? Will become BABY BLUE AWFUL on the walls. Re think that too.

Want my advice? You see color by comparison. Either douse it intentionally, or let one strong color play off of a clean white neutral back drop.

The black and white, doesn't even relate to your mirror. They are a clean . bright look, all on their own.

These? They actually DO relate. ......... The colors and shape look like they were extracted and blown up from a single tile in the mirror.!!! Then you go for broke with DEEP COBALT on the walls, and ditch those lights , and the solid black floor GOES TO a nice deep TERRACOTTA tone on the floor in a solid.

Do the LOOK or lose the mirror, is what everyone is telling you.

Jan, I love that idea for the bath.

Ditch the black vinyl floor and mirror. If you’re going to do a tile shower, you need a tile floor too. Not solid black. It needs a hint of grays and movement to it, like a slate.

The mirror could have a bit of detail to it if it were a monochromatic metal. Against a red lacquered shiny wall with a floating red quartz counter console that is the same color as the walls. With the sink metal matched to the fixtures. The rest of the walls white, There’s your drama.

Amateur agreeing with Jan Moyer. I like everything you picked but not together. I'd either pick up the bright gorgeous colors of your mirror in a new tile or in your towels.

Anyone still reading this thread, do you have a way to simulate grout color to help me decide: charcoal (dark grey) or raven (black)?

You should be able to get little bars of the grout colors, which you can then hold up against the tiles. I suspect a charcoal will be best. (whispering: I like the mirror and tile, as long as they're a bit apart.)

(but your porcelain will look similar). no you don't seal it.

I used black grout w/mine. If you have super hard water, just know that any dark grout that gets repeated water usage will turn lighter due to the minerals.

I wouldn't use a vinyl tile. not in a bathroom. use a porcelain hex (this tile is grouted with Driftwood. it's a color from Custom I think)

or large format tile

you could always use something like this on the floor and a neutral tile in the shower.

or, if you want to use that multi color blue tile for the window frame, try something like this on the floor using a navy blue

I don't have the budget to tile the floor. Getting tile in the shower was stretching our budget. I chose the shower over the flooring because it's easier (for us) to replace the flooring later on. This is a spare, basement bathroom.

Some of our cabinet hardware was backordered, and will arrive next month. The electric fireplace is rated for bathrooms, and I love having a bidet. The tp holder is temporary; we don't have a great spot for one so we're experimenting. And before you comment on that, we had zero choice in where to put that toilet so we're making due with what we have. Still love it.

Best part is that my 11yr old son loves it so much, he started showering every day. He even squeegees the shower walls (we Rainxed them first). May this trend long continue.
