Kitchens Remodeling Design Dilemma

Am updating a 2007 kitchen with quartz and painted cabinetry. A long peninsula separates the kitchen from the family room. Until yesterday this included a raised bar; the new counter will be one height. My dilemma is that the back of the peninsula is actually a knee wall and not cabinetry. It's painted sheetrock and always looks dirty from scuffs. I would like to paint it the cabinet color, add panels and molding and 'pretend' it's a cabinet/island. What to paint it and far can I go with painting it even an accent color? or stick to cabinet color. Feels risky. Photos are work in progress. Thank you.

Not sure I would try to camouflage the peninsula by making it look like cabinetry. What bothers me is the thin edge of the island. There is no apron to make the top look more substantial. Understand about the peninsula/island getting scuffed. You could consider installing a foot rail to help present that. Good luck!

There are a lot of ideas online on how to upgrade a builder-grade island with trim ... you could do that and then paint it the cabinet color. I would stick with the cabinet color since it's not separate, like an island would be.

Whatever you put beneath the counter overhang will ultimately get scuffed if you intend to have seating there. Use a durable, scrubbable paint and keep magic eraser sponges under the sink. :)
