It would help if its nor to much work for you to move it in morning very close to the east south wall and after the sun turns put that fig tree on south wes side.

Make sure that soil in container is moist not wet and surround container with black plastic or if you have dark nursary container, place it in just with original container, to keep the roots warm, just rile the fig tree is outside.

Sometimes it's good to let the soil in container completely dry out to kick start the ripening process, but the figlets on that tree shouldn't be younger then 60 days.

Don't let the soil in container dry for too long ! One day is enough, so be careful !

Thank you so much for all the info! I brought the tree indoors and hope it gets hot enough to put it our during the day. I've got a black plastic pot that will hold it, so will use that trick, too.

I pinched off all the immature fruit awhile ago, and remove new ones as they appear. I also removed some leaves and suckers at the base, hoping to force more energy into the larger fruit.

Now that you mention it, the fruit may not even be 60 days. I was away until mid-July, and I think most of them appeared around that time. They don't look very big in the photo, but they're about 1 to 1.5" in diameter. Hoping for them to ripen now does seem a bit optimistic.

I intend to wrap the tree in an insulating blanket after the first frost and store it in the garage for the winter. Fingers crossed it survives!
