Strip Twist is finished

Here is my version of Bonnie Hunter's Strip Twist. I know I showed you the quilt top when it was finished, but here is the final product. This is for my friend Elisa who saw it before it was finished and fell in love with it. I'll see her next week at book club and give it to her then. I must say that this is one of my favorites. I love the impression of spinning that it gives. And of course, browns and grays are my colors. I'm having so darn much fun making scrap quilts.

Lovely! It's funny, I read your post but not thoroughly and was thinking, there's so much movement in that pattern, then I reread and saw your comment about likeing the "spinning" effect. So I'm not crazy :-D

Very nice, Lois! I made a Strip Twist for my BIL when I had his name for Christmas a few years ago. I didn't think of making him a quilt until a couple weeks before Christmas so I was really happy with how quickly it goes together. :)

Great quilt, love the scrappy ones, too. I was staring at your photo of this quilt and there was so much imagined movement in it, it must be even 10 times more in real life!

Your color choices are always spot on. It must be nice to have enough scraps to be able to pull together such beautiful quilts.

Just look at you having a good time making scrap quilts! :-) And, making them very well, too!

I love the quilt (saved a photo for future use). I was just reading the update from the retreat and looked up Strip Twist. I would never have made that quilt from Bonnie Hunter's photos (too busy). However, yours is perfect and worth emulating.

Bkay, I totally agree. I think her patterns are great, but her random scrappiness and busyness is way too much for me also. Often, it's her use of scrappy, busy borders that I don't like. I know she often uses traditional blocks in her patterns, but she helps me envision them differently. I've really enjoyed her site and have made at least eight quilts from her patterns. I also modified her scrap saving method and used it to cut my scraps into sizes that I use.
