The eggplant wouldn’t really go with the rest of the furniture which is attached. I also want colors that I can easily blend into the kitchen as well as new curtains will be done in kitchen. Hoping to have it all blend.

So I’m not moving the tv chest as it’s been wired and set in place where we need it to stay and just painted the room. So it is staying there. I’ll just purchase the round mirror on other wall so I will keep that there as well. Now looking at rugs and will check out my options and sill look into some of your suggestions. You’ve been super helpful.

You need some bold colors. Maybe bright geometric rug, same colors in pillows on couch and large contemporary art over the couch

There is no wall for a picture over the couch. I have windows there but will try bolder colors. My only concern is I want to carry color into the kitchen which joins the living room so want something that will be easy to do kitchen curtains with. Thoughts? Thinking blue colors in rug would carry nice into kitchen.

I like the rug you started with but I think you need different pillows. In general, your pillows blend with the furniture. I’d pull the lightest color from the rug (whatever you go with) and an accent and repeat it.

I don’t think muted jewel tones in a new rug are going to make much visual difference. Color, stronger or brighter will help. Either blue or brighter red rust. I think it’s good to start with a rug but you’ll most likely need to make other adjustments to get the feel of the room if that makes sense.

Maybe consider an ottoman on legs. That will lighten up the weight and color of the ottoman.

Need bright color. And then repeat it elsewhere in pillows on sofa and art work over the sofa.
