When the design is supposed to be symmetrical and there is a wonky block, it does bother me. But if the entire design uses wonky blocks I am perfectly fine with it.

When I was working and had to design brochures and flyers, I obsessed about straight lines and square boxes, so I guess I am with Rita on this one. But I did do a Wonky Pinwheel quilt once. Still not sure I really liked it.

My quilts are usually pretty unwonky, but I looked through my quilting projects, and the wonkiest ones I could find are these two bedspreads that I made for my daughter and my nephew. The designers of both of these quilts had you cut strips of differing random lengths, widths and angles. Even the trapezoids in the second quilt, which look like prints, were made of eight fabrics "crazy pieced." I have to say that for me, it's much more challenging to do this than it is to keep everything squared.

I don't mind wonky. Is that different from tilted? This one is Tilted Crumbs.

This one has wonky stars in it. I like them both. The stars were easy for me as I did a lot of them by hand and I didn't have to worry if they were even or not.

Some of my quilts are wonky even though they are not supposed to be.

No wonky for me, I like symmetry.

Can wonky mean asymmetrical? Because I do like asymmetrical designs sometimes. So many of the designs we do in quilting are symmetrical. I think I posted a picture of this quilt a while back, but this is wonky to me. It was lots of fun to put together, too.

Basically I’m a symmetrical kind of person, everybody in their row, rows nice and straight and even. But I do like tilted blocks in a quilt, especially for kids’ quilts. Whenever I sew blocks that are supposed to be wonky, I have trouble wanting to make them straight. LOL!

Char, for some reason that quilt doesn't say wonky to me because it looks like it's supposed to be broken glass or something similar, which isn't supposed to be symmetrical. But I probably wouldn't make that one, like trouzernc, I would want to make it straight and get frustrated. And as I said before, some things don't bother me that aren't symmetric such as string quilts, piano key borders where the strips are different widths and even slightly slanted. I guess I have a stiff, symmetrical brain.
