Are you in a warm or cold climate? And is the garage heated? We considered the same thing for our house in the Midwest, but decided "no" because we couldn't configure a smooth transition of floor height, heating, etc. Putting on a cold coat in the morning would be a bummer. Also, we ended up valuing the potentially lost garage storage/car space much higher than the tiny amount of cold, awkward mudroom space we would have gained.

I have a coat hook and a stool in the garage that allows me to change out of work or wet clothes before going in through the kitchen. A couple of towels close by come in handy, too.

SPIDERS- personally, I'd worry about spiders seeking a shoe or a cozy jacket fold to nest-in over night. It'd scare the beejeesus out of me. Spiders can get in to any crevice. FYI there is no such thing as preemptive spraying for spiders, as you can with other insects. Spiders are not a self-grooming creature, where they might ingest a poison that they walked on. The only way to kill a spider is to spray it directly or squash it . October is a big month for spiders naturally, not just a spooky Halloween decoration.

Spraying for bugs will kill the spider's food source. So, spiders will venture out from their places in search of food. Ever see the Kardashian episode where Kourtney "just sprayed her yard for bugs a week ago" and her yard was overrun with tarantulas? That's what happens.
