Ship lap and edge to edge carpet are not good style and feeling / farmhouse friends. I hope you mean area rug. On hardwood : ) In which scenario a million area rugs can / would work.

I agree wall to wall not ever in a farmhouse . If this is a basement and you don’t want wood then do a nice vinyl plank and area rug. What is your bed? Pictures of the stuff always help for sure. I usually find white furniture in bedrooms can look like kids stuff and IMO a guest room should look put together like a 5 star hotel room not like you had a bunch of stuff that you didn’t know what to do with. As for the area rug we need to see the rest of what is going in there. What size are the windows as much info as possible.

I don't agree with the above comments, carpet can look great with shiplap and a farmhouse feel in a bedroom. I like this stainmaster carpet that yellowprairieinteriors did (she's on IG and has more info there), I'd go with a very light taupe for sure but light gray could work too.

The only wall to wall I'd do is in a small or oddly shaped room, and I'd use sisal or sea grass.

Sorry for the vagueness....this is a bedroom within a recroom. I would have done luxury v. plank but have already 1200 feet down there of that stuff. I also like the feel of carpet in a bedroom. I am planning on 3" white shutters also. The bed frame will be a wrought iron black bed down the road. Heading to carpet place tomorrow-taking your suggestions with me! Thank you

Continue the LVP as you have, and ADD an area rug that comes within a foot to 18 of bedside walls. Don't put your looks at "odds" with one another! Pleeeeze : )

Continuity counts, and it enhances space and the illusion of LARGER space. It allows for a vast selection of area rugs at virtually any budget. Gonna have to trust us on this one. A mention of room size or a drawing and dimensions better yet, along with pics of the proposed furnishings ? Even better.

You would have a vast selection of area rugs. They are much easier to clean or take out to update a room. A light carpet will eventually get dirty from bare feet or shoes, especially if you have a bathroom near by. Water from taking a shower, etc.

Farm homes mostly had beat up hardwood floors in bedrooms. Hardwood was cheap. Carpet was too expensive for farmers. Area rugs if they could afford one was in the living room. If anything the bedroom might have a small rug runner beside the bed. Their livelihood came from the farm and not the house. Money went into the farm. Luxury items like carpeting was rair

That being said I also love carpet in a bedroom. I'm sure farmers would of loved it in their bedrooms than stepping on hard cold wood flooring in the early hours they had to get up.

Personally I like the lighter color carpets. Maybe a light gray or ivory.

I agree with the naysayers. Wall to wall and farmhouse just don't match. I don't really understand why people love carpet in bedrooms so much. Put a nice throw under the bed so your feet land on something cozy in the AM.

My grandpa's farmhouse always had a deer skin rug beside the bed, and his head or antlers on the wall!

Heavens..............I doubt anyone's feet fall off here......

You can have the "farm" or you can have a carpeted bedroom, one in which you slapped up some shiplap. : )

JAN you are very passionate about carpet. She didn't even ask IF she should do carpet, she asked what color we thought she should do. Do you live on a farm? Have you had a bad experience with carpet? lol

Yes dark gray works , taupe works ...almost everything will work with your wall colors ...how about some area rugs under the feet when coming out of the bed ...with some red ..to give it some color ...?

I have no problem with edge to edge GREAT carpet in a room ( a patterned wool for instance ) well suited to it. Generally that's in this day and age , a more formal feeling bedroom, but definitely NOT one with a farmhouse, more rustic feel, unless you simply can't get past edge to edge. .......................

If you are firm on your decision to carpet the floor, then I would choose a carpet that picks up and continues the tones of your flooring in the other rooms near it. If your floor is a gray wood, then choose a gray carpet. If it is more brown, then a taupe or beige. Take a sample of your wooden style flooring with you and see what “blends” or “goes” with it. Use that as your neutral base in planning your bedroom flooring. (PS: I would probably opt for a sisal look carpet as it is more natural, organic looking and would suit your more rustic theme.)

I would love for my husband to get a bear for a rug. He tries every year but no luck so far. The only time he sees a bear is during deer season. Lol
