It looks like closet storage is an issue as well. Have you thought about ripping out those small closets and doing something like an IKEA PAX system along that whole back wall? Obviously lower drawers in front of the window, but it may have better storage solutions than the over crowded closets.

We thought about ripping out the closets. I will take a look at the Ikea system...just trying to stay within a budget.
