Last week of Sept. seems too early for me, but I will just be a lurker.

Last year the color series was in mid-to-late October, a time when one is generally less busy. I tried to edit my previous comment with this note, but Houzz wouldn't let me. Oh, the brilliance of Houzz techies. Now, shortly after posting, we can't even edit comments.

Mantis - We did start later last year, but that took us all the way into December. I'm just as busy planting and mulching in mid-October as I am the last week in September. The last two years, I've been planting until the first week in November.

What say the rest of you? Do you want to start the last week in September, or the second week of October?

I won't be participating anyway. I'm fed up with Houzz. It's done its best to drive people away, filled with arrogant techies that are unresponsive. Much too busy now to even think about daylily performance.

Sherry - Once we agree on a start date, I'll post a schedule. Last year, we did pink first, followed by purple. I'm waiting for a few more people to weigh in on when to start.

Debra: Just my two cents worth. I'd like a mid October or so start up date. Right now with all this heat and watering, I'm not as receptive to daylilies as I will be come cooler weather. But you do what you need to do. After all you are the one doing the work. I'll go along with anything you decide, but will probably pay more attention in cooler weather...............Maryl

Mantis....NO! Please don't let Houzz drive you away. I, too, was fed up when I came back here after an absence and tried to do some posts. My photos kept getting rejected, posts went missing, etc. I've had to re-size my photos before I can post now. Even now sometimes Houzz finds a way to chop up and fragment my sentences it to make it look like I was drunk....lol. But I fought to get my posts up because this is such a friendly group. I LIKE everyone here. Nowhere else do I find such thoughtful folk. Other forums aren't as personal and FB groups don't give me the same 'cozy' feeling. Lots of us look forward to your posts and photos! I enjoy your commentary and advice. If you stay away for awhile, I understand the frustration....but I hope you come back!

Sorry folks, I have missed this post till now . I guess if I have to vote, I vote for the later date . I am really so busy breaking up gardens and transplanting that right now I just don't have the time to participate the way I would like to . I will keep an eye on this post and if it starts earlier I will try to participate if I can .

It looks like most would prefer mid October, so we will start the posts on Mon., Oct. 14.

I am definitely leaving the group since I discovered that after a stupid USPS tech person insisted I clear my cache, I can no longer post photos on Houzz. However, I am considering creating a new Facebook group where people can share ideas and pictures just as with this group. It was getting to a point anyway that no one was looking at Houzz because of all the problems.

I occasionally post on NGA, but generally do not like that site for posting pictures because the format discourages interaction, particularly responses to posts. Also, there are a few people who are very dominating. That can occur on any site, of course, but exacerbates the interaction problem already existing on NGA. It is true that there are already picture sites on Facebook, but they usually lack evaluative context and often are used by hybridizers to try to sell their products. Also, any negative comments about cultivars are discouraged.

At any rate, as the song goes, "it was good to know you." I will occasionally lurk, but will generally not be active. That is already the case with many former members.

Sorry to hear your decision, Mantis. We all looked forward to your photos and knowledg. I hope at some point you change your mind. I so enjoy everyone here and look forward to seeing what's new here every day.

I feel sad that our group is getting smaller every year. We have the best people here, at least I feel that way. So many of you have been here for a long time and I think of you as friends. It saddens me to no end that we are losing another friend because of Houzz. When it was Gardenweb it was so easy to post and now because of their glitches we all lose. Mantis, I hope when you start up a Facebook group I can find you there. I will miss you here.

I keep hoping Houzz will correct its problems, but that does not seem to be happening. The problems occasionally change, but still problems exist. I am a member on NGA too, but only occasionally participate in discussions. I really like the format here, and I like hearing the pros and cons of a daylily. I have all but given up on posting pictures though, I used to really enjoy that part of it.

Mantis - Let us know your FB site, so those of use who use FB can join.

Celeste - It is sad that this group keeps shrinking. A lot of it is because of the problems with posting pics.

I have found one bizarre way of circumventing problems with posting pictures in the comments section. As I noted, Houzz will not allow me to post any pictures (either from Photo or Houzz Photo) on a discussion under the heading Daylilies. However, if I first post a comment on a post, such as "Houzz sucks," and then go to my account under "activity," I find that in the thread revealed under "activity," I am able to post a picture in that thread on which I posted a comment.. Byzantine! It's no wonder that participation is dwindling.

I don't do Facebook so I'll miss your pictures Mantis but wish you every success. Many people whose pictures I've enjoyed over the years have gone elsewhere too. I occasionally see one or two on NGA, but not all of them. Maybe they went to Facebook or the AHS round robin (or whatever it's called). Many left even before Houzz took a perfectly lovely gardening forum and changed it to suit their purposes. It mainly exists now to sell home furnishings.......Whatever happens, I expect I'll be here until someone turns off the lights - one way or the other...........Maryl

I hope Mantis tests the waters here every so often to see if the tech part changes so he can post again..........Debra: Oct. 14th works out well for me. We just had the first small break in our high heat, and it could stay in the high 80's now so that I can begin to do something in the garden besides watering. That heat just takes it out of me..............Maryl

Well that is unfortunate . I won't be seeing you folks on Facebook . I don't need the Sultan of Facebookistan making money off my postings and likes and whatever else info they sell to third parties. I will miss being part of this group . Oh well, c'est la vie I guess .

I won't be leaving here in spite of Houzz. I don't give up easily when something means a lot to me; which is all of you! We have enjoyed each others' company for such a long time. Lots of you are friends that I correspond with privately and share plants with. I would hate to lose that. I do check in on some forums on FB but very rarely post anything. There is no intimacy on FB and too much boasting/pretending in general. I might drop in from time to time if Mantis does start up a group, but mostly to lurk. This has always been my favorite hangout and will continue to be, so let's band together and keep this place alive!

I will have to try your method, if I'm following what you're saying. Interesting...I wonder if it's because of your comment about Houzz? The AI being programmed to field possible offensive comments, which are then reviewed and either approved or deleted?

Mantis, what browser do you use? My suggestion is to switch browsers. I use Waterfox and it gives me no troubles. https://www.waterfox.net/ It is more secure that Chrome or Firefox and very fast.

Alex is right all sites do make money off of their members , that is how they stay alive by selling your info to 3rd party companies so they can solicit your purchases . I choose not to give Facebook the opportunity to make money off of me .
