Home Renovation Anxiety!!

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><md>Just went to see the progress of our massive home renovation and I’m having so much anxiety on all my tile selections.. I picked at least 3 different tiles for each of the 5 bathrooms. The kitchen tile is a gorg onyx 24 x 48 porcelain tile but now I’m stressing it’s gonna be slippery and someone’s gonna break a hip ! My GC is telling me to take some meds ! I don’t want to have the WTH was I thinking feeling .

Best way to keep your wits about you is to keep organized! I did my remodel in 3 stages (I’m in #3 now) so I didn’t go too crazy, but I learned a lot from each of the other stages. First off, do an “idea board” for every room. I included my favorite inspiration picture, then actual photos of the tile, counters, etc. that I took and put it all together so you know what’s what. See my photo. Also, just know that renovations will do this crazy thing to you, and that is to make you second guess EVERYTHING! Just the nature of the beast. But I promise you’ll survive!

Go to the manufacturer's website and check the slip ratings. Or call them and ask.

I think most everyone goes thru this phase during a renovation. Have a glass of wine! You can always post your selections here and solicit opinions. There are a lot of talented folks here on Houzz that should be able to give you some valuable input. Good luck!

IMO 3 choices of tile in a bathroom is one choice too many but I would need to see the choices. As for the anxiety everyone has this in a reno or a new build. If you are truly worried post your choices here now before they are installed.

Architect yes, designer no. I’ve tried working with at least 3 designers but end up feeling uncomfortable when I disagreed with their choices and it always seemed they’d get an attitude. The only reason I would need a designer is finding me the things I’ve seen online and I can’t find them anywhere! Of course it’s because most are custom.. ugh.$$$.
Kitchen floor and family room porcelain wood flooring. PS I’m doing all porcelain flooring with smallest grout lines possible! Previous home with travertine, marble, and real wood ruined because of a certain untrained 110lb dog(hubbys). The smell wld not come out of that natural stone. So I wanted something impermeable for this home.
Mediterranean traditional mostly is what I’m doing ..

Laundry room tile where I’m doing medium tone wood cabinets and fantasy brown granite . I’m thinking a white porcelain sink and a simple white tile backsplash .. white washer & dryer ..

Before cataract surgery, I couldn't judge color but didn't know it. I hope I didn't screw up too many projects for my clients due to that deficit!

    Live wire

The columns are not pink.. Yikes! In person they match the floors perfectly. But I might have them redone in white down the road . That’s something I’m not gonna worry about now.. The kitchen floors are glossy and the wood goes to rest of house . I’m not the type to want the same flooring through out the house . After talking to designers on the decision of gloss kitchen floors. They pointed out something I didn’t think of . How many high end hotels have polished marble floors and I thought wow they’re right . I just got back from Vegas and gorgeous polished glossy marble flooring everywhere! Even in our suite, including bathrooms.

Really happy to find out there are a lot of anti slip products out there I can have my kitchen floor treated with that greatly improve the friction even when wet without interfering with the shine! I will have it done by a professional so that it’s done properly.. Yay!! Never knew this was available. I will treat the marble floor in my condo shower myself where I put those ugly anti slip tape strips.. ... Problem solved !

Thank you sheepla! I love it too and especially because it was $1.29 a sq ft! At least I found one inexpensive tile ..
