Dull and empty living room needs help

My living room looks dull and empty. Some wall decor and area rug perhaps and some redecoration will help? Suggestions please and thank you.

Try the sofa under the window, right side looking at the shots. There should be room for 2 chairs on left and right side, 4 total. Area rug to anchor the space. The cocktail set needs to have more weight to it, and also needs to be contemporary, like the sofa and lamps. The curtains look orange, which is a great color to work with. Use that color as your inspiration.

Any suggestions where to buy cheap but nice area rug?

What a great start! You just need a large piece of art work over the sofa- or a mirror if the reflection is something interesting. I would turn your cofee table the other direction- so it is moving the same direction as your sofa. Then just a rug and some throw pillows and you are done. What other colors would you like your room besides white and the light blue? Your curtains seem a bit on the short side, can you let the hem out or add something to the bottom of them?

Thanks @howellmsuez I like bluish green like the one that I've attached, shades of gray perhaps of something peachy to match my cherry blossom tree.

Turn the coffee table around, take on of the end tables out. Put the plant on end of the couch. Art work and green plants, arearug

Check out overstock.com. They have very nice rugs and they aren't very expensive. I like both of these, but they are very different in style. Look on overstock and post some that you like so we can help you choose one!

What is the couch facing where it is at now? A tv or anything? IF it is NOT, I agree with the suggestion to move it under the window and have it facing the window for a nice little view. If it needs to face the direction it is, just move the coffee table in front if it. Ikea has some wonderful rugs at great prices if you are near one. Pick up some pillows for some color on your couch. LOVE the color of your drapes and that can totally be your inspiration color. Maybe some bamboo blinds for the shorter windows??? Ikea would also have a large selection of large pics for your large wall! Large, huh?

Your space has an AWESOME start! Really nice basic pieces to work with...even love the wall color and the drapes. It seems your drapes are a little short? Maybe lower them or get longer ones. I would agree that the coffee table should be in front of your sofa turned the other direction, and that there needs to be a rug. If you can afford it, I would opt for a cowhide rug. They are very 'in' right now, and would go with your clean minimal decor concept. They warm up a space without taking away from its modernity. As for over the sofa, I would hang 2, square side-by-side very interesting pieces of art. Maybe something with cool black and white typography or a vintage feel. I wouldn't add any pillows, unless you just want them, but I think the sofa is very cool and speaks for itself with the square stitching. Maybe an orange throw to add some texture/comfort. Good luck!!

Oh, not sure what your taste in art is but society6.com has some very cool prints. You can choose your framing size, color, and even get canvas versions of what you like. Very reasonable prices too! :)

I saw this painting at overstock and thought of your space! It doesn't go with either rug I posted, but I am not sure what your art taste/rug taste is.

That would be an awesome painting with her drapes! Way to go!

Overstock.com for a rug for sure, or try HomeGoods if you have one in your area. Really a great start. You obviously have a good eye. Be patient and you'll find something perfect.
