Why 2 walk ins . Are all those bedrooms being used ? I have a friend that turner a small bedroom into a fabulous dressing room. I think the first layout would work if you removed the W/D to the main floor. It always seems like a good idea to have it near the bedrooms but honestly unless you spend your day on that floor a main floor laundry is much more convienent you one trip down with the dirty and one trip up at the end of the day with the clean and no trips the rest of teh time to move from washer to dryer. This is the first time I have had a main floor laubdry and I love it.

Yes, all bedrooms are being used by us and kids. I like the idea of separate closets so I can have a space that's just mine, more like a dressing room. Actually the main full size laundry room will be in the basement, this is a secondary small stacked unit for quick loads with kids stuff etc. I'd love to have main floor laundry but sadly no room, so it got bumped down to basement.
