Help with kitchen cabinets

Wondering about a white kitchen. We looked at kraftmaid painted white cabinets and priced them out, but am concerned for how the paint will hold up over time with wiping down. I have 3 young children and not sure the painted cabinet is smart. What do you people think of the thermafoil? Does certain brands look better? does anyone know how the painted cabinet holds up? Thanks
