Cabinet / wall painting dilemma

Hi all, I’m sure there is a “correct” answer to this but I don’t know it! These cabinets are built-in in my 1758 New England cape kitchen. (Kitchen is a 1950’s ish addition so they are not that old). I am replacing the cabinets on the other side of the room with new Dover white ones. The wide pine Floors stay, and my husband is bent on keeping the pine ceilings, but has consented to a more modern light fixture.

Counters will be viscount white granite, and appliances are stainless range, white dw, and white floating glass Jenn air fridge.

So these cabinets i want want to paint BM Thundercloud Gray. My question is, do I then need to paint all the wall and trim bits around these cabs also the same gray? There are no walls to speak of (there’s whitewashed brick) on the other side of the room but there is a window, currently trimmed in this same green, that i’d like to trim in white Or very pale gray.

So - what say you all? Does this entire end of the room need to be thundercloud gray or can I do a pale gray/white on the door frames and wall bits (like where switches are next to big double door cabinet)?

Well, it might have been better if the trim had been left natural, but that ship has sailed. I’d paint everything on that side one color.

Wow! You certainly have a lot of different things going on in your kitchen at the same time! Why the different finishes for appliances? Why not all stainless or all white?

I don't like that gray - it's very dark. And with a pine ceiling, it may look even darker. You need to get a cohesive plan and not just pick multiple things you like and put them all together.

The gray is open for discussion but the appliances are not - the dishwasher and fridge work fine and will be replaced if they break. The range is a new slide in gas that only came in stainless.

I’m confused! I don’t see appliances in the pictures?! What is Anglophilia taking about. Can you post more pictures?

She read my description and didn’t like some of the existing items (a stainless range with white floating glass fridge and white dishwasher), and a brick wall. I don’t have budget to replace appliances that work fine so the white remains, hopefully for a few more years. White cabinets will help keep them from sticking out too much.

The thing that confuses me is the end of the kitchen I posted photos of. It’s the furthest from the windows and painted this dark colonial green that makes it even darker.

The crown molding (which doesn’t go with the house) is continuous across the cabinet tops and doorways, so I’m afraid I have to paint the whole section the same. But I was looking for thoughts on whether I have to do that or if there’s a creative way to make it look more like walls and cabinets, instead of a huge chunk of cabinetry, if that makes sense.

I would paint it all white. Leave the paneling as is. If you don’t like the contrast then maybe psi the paneling later to a lighter color.

Do you have a white-painted cabinet door from the other room that you could bring in and prop up in the kitchen for a new photo? The battleship gray (thundercloud) is really quite dark and would probably make a great accent color (say for a pie cabinet) rather than whole-house color.
