if you need to have privacy in that window, try shades that mount on the interior and raise from the bottom up to that cross bar before the arc starts. It's LOVELY window and a lovely room -- I wouldn't want to clutter it with much in the way of a drapery

What color paint did you use on the walls? Looks really nice.

What an upgrade! Great job. You may consider painting your light fixture a flat black. Just my opinion. Looks much better.

Your new room looks great. I would place the two chairs at the ends of the table.

Love the transformation. I also think a drum shade would be a good change from the traditional fixture. And I also think the back wall needs a piece of furniture that has presence. I think it should be larger than what is currently there. It would give the room a nice focal point. If you use a buffet or a long & narrow piece of furniture, 2 lamps on either end would be nice. More than one source of lighting for a room is always nice

I like storklady's suggestion. It might be fun to mix it up a bit and buy a vintage piece, whether buffet or china cabinet (something tall, anyway) and paint it a darker version of your green wall color with a fun color - or dare I say it? wallpaper! - on the inside. BTW, I meant to mention before: great ceiling!

Is the top back wall the same as the sides? Or is it the light that makes it look different. more tan.

Paint the tray a pretty color to contrast the walls have a new area rug made, using the design of the tray, add a large buffet on end wall with beautiful tall lamps, maybe the light fixture needs changed to go along with the buffet lamps. Chair seats in a good stripe to blend with walls and ceiling. The window is eye catching. Wider crown millwork would show off the tray ceiling.

If those where your corner cupboards, you could try bringing them back. Good job making it work!

All around lovely. Best part is now being able to see the beautiful, wide window and bring in the natural light.

Updated by about a century! You could try a wider chair rail and crown moldings in the same tone as the lovely window frame. I love very modern art with traditional furniture for an updated but classic look that saves and features the beautiful wood. You might bring back the corner cabinets or the little buffet for functionality. And, yes, change or spray paint that light fixture, asap. I'd use white or a bright green.

Beautiful. I agree the back wall could use something with a bit more presence, so try this: move the chairs from the corners to sit next to the chest on both sides.

I agree with everyone...a more substantial piece of furniture on the back wall would bring a nice balance. Even just bringing back that slightly larger piece that was previously there would help. And, for sure, update the fixture. You could spray paint the current one a black or oil rubbed bronze, but a more contemporary fixture would be amazing. Great job on the update! Interested to see if you choose to adorn the window. I like it as-is, but I can certainly understand the need for occasional privacy. If you do add a window treatment, I would keep it simple- just a couple of floor to ceiling panels.

I think the days of wallpaper are numbered, I do not remember the last time we contracted a job to install wallpaper.

Imagine we thought that wall paper was wonderful back then. What a lovely transformation you made. Love your colors, so fresh and compliment your outside view. Do agree, the hanging light fixture should be changed and hung lower, depending on the style, the base of the fixture 34 inches from the top of the table. Also think the serving piece on the end wall is dewarfed by the big dining table and chairs. A buffet would be more in scale. Very pretty.

I like the idea of using a larger sideboard at the end of the room and putting the head chairs at the table. I have put up a picture of a chandelier on my page that would be beautiful. I am not sure how big this room is. If you put a larger sideboard at the end you should have 3 ft. from the end of the table to the front of the buffet for chair pull out withour moving the table so the chandelier will still be in the center of the table.

lexiek gold, old gold, brassy gold are all back in with a vengence, you should be able to find a new fixture in a style that fits your new look in the gold metal colors for continuity with the rest of the metal in your home.

I like crystal also but not sure what your budget is.

I love what you did to the room, but I think the small buffet in the ack of the room is just not the right scale. I would bring back the original piece in that spot. It had more presence and I think would work better there.

Mirror the back wall, get a larger buffet with buffet lamps, Add some tall green plants in the corners. Make the ceiling tray a darker shade. Paint the chandelier a dark bronze to match the buffet lamps.
