Hello everyone,

We have a linear Continental CBL 36 beechwood fireplace insert. (Installed in our new build)

When we first moved in a few months ago we noticed the metal hardware on top was very visible. The fireplace installer said it was supposed to be painted black and was a factory defect.

Since using the fireplace the past few days, I have noticed this very visible rectangular black strip right in the middle. This is visible from all angles and even from very far away. I am wondering if this is how it is supposed to be or if it is another manufacturing defect (was supposed to be covered with sand, wood, etc but wasn’t)?
