What color cabinet with fantasy brown granite?

Hi!

I chose fantasy brown for my master bathroom. I’m looking for some input on if you would pair it with a white cabinet or a grey cabinet? The counter is a double sink vanity, with a middle section for an under counter bench, and a tall wall cabinet on the counter top as a makeup vanity area. The whole house has a very coastal beachy theme/feel. I’m afraid grey will just be so dark, but also afraid the white vanity on top of the countertop will be such a contrast. Here is a photo. I’d love to know what you think! Thanks!

I think the white you are looking at is a touch too bright. I'm wondering whether a softer white, like SW Ivory Lace, or Creamy--or Alabaster would work better? Something that echoes the creamier shades in the Fantasy Brown

what about sea green or greenish blue?

@awinmh so I was thinking i might paint the walls a light light sea green type color if I went with a basic white counter too.

I like the taupe one. if you did a white shower tile or white tile floor, if would keep it light.

have you thought about doing a blue gray or green gray vanity? These look really coastal,,especially if you did a blue/gree/gray type of glass tile or backsplash

love the wicker baskets too. gives a little warmth to the stone.

here's fantasy w/your taupe and a white vanity

I prefer Beths two choices to yours. I'm so over gray and it's a trend that is on its way out. I love the seafoam green or the blue that Beth shows.

Thanks y’all! I am also planning on doing a very light sea foam green colored island in my kitchen so I didn’t want to be “too much” or take away from that piece by doing it in both rooms.

Also, I’m splurging on appliances, custom island hood, countertops and other areas in my home, so in choosing a more budgeted cabinet. The 3 colors that could work with this are the white, grey, and vanilla glaze. Maybe the vanilla glaze wouldn’t be a bad option? Doesn’t seem as stark white.

Beautiful granite. I like it with a taupe cabinet, not gray.

Warmer white for vanity. Wicham Grey by BM on walls. It is beautiful. I have it in my master bathroom.

Thank you all for your input. All wonderful ideas, and i have a lot to think about. I appreciate all of the help!

Sondra, what app is that you used to show that?

    @Erin W I used Pages on Mac

Agree with those who suggested ivory cabinet. Couldn’t get a good picture to show true color but plenty of off whites to choose from I think.

I would do high gloss white but IMO it depends on your style

Oh my goodness, you and I are creating the same bathroom! I also chose fantasy brown too. Here's my pic of the slab. We are using SW alabaster withh a darker hardware.Sounds like you have a good plan. I love Beth H.'s idea of that blue!!!

    Love, love Fantasy Brown!

I think the off white cabinet will look really nice. The chalk white one is too stark,

I would reconsider having the space for a bench unless you already have that set up and use it. We have a space for a bench too and I've never used it in the 17 years we've lived here. When I redo the bathroom I plan on having a full set of cabinets.

Polished or leathered? Polished will look darker than a leathered finish. Please post pics !

    i'd pick-up the taupey-mauve in the granite

The white is too bright. The gray may be a bit too dark. Try to match the white in the granite or look at a lighter silvery-gray for your cabinets.
Regarding the bench, storage is more important. I haven’t seen a bench in a bathroom for years, but I have seen many bathrooms with too few drawers.

We used fantasy brown counters in our kitchen. We chose very light natural maple cabinets in a shaker frame. I think it looks light and beautiful. It might work better in your bathroom than a painted cabinet.

Go a couple shades lighter on your gray sample - then paint your cabinet the lighter gray. Paint your walls, ceiling and trim a soft white. It will be current and beautiful. Add color with artwork or flowers in a vase.

I like the taupe color for the cabinets. White is too stark next to that granite. Some type of cream or off white flooring would look nice.

    Did you already buy it?

Did hickory with the fantasy brown

chris, are you doing a tile backsplash? if so, remove that 4" piece

I love your Fantasy Brown granite with what Hollysmother showed for a floor color and creamier white cabinet, to pull out that cream color in the granite.

I too choose fantasy brown for master bath, my vanity is a cream with a touch of green, not too much so it takes on a hint of hydrangea. My wall paint is a cream brûlée and trim throughout my house is simply white, I teamed it up with faux caerarra tile throughout with the real stuff along the top for trim. Also used fb on seat in shower and panels on side

Be aware that the photos all show Fantasy Brown and it isn’t consistent. Each person chose the color that works with THEIR stone. Once you choose your slabs, have them marked and THEN pick your vanity color. Having the option to paint it whatever looks best will make a huge difference. Every one of these is gorgeous, and they’re slightly different.

    That’s so true

I have a similarly colored quartzite countertop in my kitchen and I chose taupe cabinets (cabinet material on right) with a back painted back splash. I love it.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><md>Correction: that countertop is leather granite. Sorry, got confused
  • 6 years ago

I would do a creamy off white - gray would be "too much" of a color on its way out. Whatever you do, keep everything super-simple...that countertop is beautiful yet very, very busy. So it needs to be the sole star.

Try SW Sea Salt. Great color with that granite and pair with towels that blend everything together.

We just chose a fantasy brown slab for your master bathroom. Which color vanity did you end up going with for yours??

    White cabinets

FOR ANYONE CONSIDERING FANTASY BROWN — it is NOT a granite OR quartzite. This stone is a semi hard MARBLE. Whatever fabricator is telling you that you’re receiving granite/quartzite when buying this color is LYING. Totally fine to use, so long as the client knows what they’re getting. Upkeep for this is still going to be like other marbles. It will scratch and etch 1000% so just be prepared for that. I’m a fabricator and it saddens me to know how many people have this color installed and think it’s granite. Sadly no.

We paired ours with SW Thunder Gray and I have been extremely pleased with it.
