Dark brown spots on schefflera, developing quickly

I have this schefflera that has begun developing dark brown spots on the leaves, almost overnight.

The plant was outdoors for a while this summer, and it may have been in a spot that was too sunny and cold (cool nights, California Bay Area). the top two or three leaves became very chlorotic.

Once bringing it inside, it has begun growing a gain, several new leaves at the growing tip, but two of those mature leaves have developed these dark brown spots that appear very quickly and spread.

Any ideas?

could we see a pic of the whole ...

and how cold do you think it got ...

its stressed ... due to bringing it inside.. if not also cold ...right now.. its not hungry.. hold off with any ideas of fert.. until we figure it out ...

i want to see how big it is.. how big the pot is.. and wonder how long its been in that pot ...

water it properly ... let it near dry before you water it again.. lets get it to settle down ... and see what happens.. before we try to love it to death ...

This plant had been indoors its whole life. For a while I didn't have an indoor space for it so I tried its luck by putting it outside in July. By September I could see that it was not happy. It's possible that it was getting too much sun in its location. about 3 hours of direct sun in the afternoon. the top leaves became a fluorescent yellow. But it is a Schefflera amate 'soleil' so they do have more of a chartreuse color. But this seemed extreme.

how cold do I think it got? --> lows in the 50s and highs in the 60s and 70s. I am 2 miles from the Pacific Ocean in Northern California. Those are typical July temperatures.

It's actually WARMER now that it's inside, (no chilly nights) and has actually begun to grow after a few weeks inside. It seems very happy with the change. In the pic you can see new small leaves coming out the top.

Its been in its current pot since July.

The only thing is that the two "yellow" top leaves have started to get brown spots that spread pretty quickly.

Its had to see in the pick because i keep removing leaflets that get covered in brown spots

==>>> i hope it went outside into full shade ... unless properly hardened off .... if not.. sunburn might be an issue.. and in tree time... its just showing .... it can take that long.. with minor damage ... [i reread.. and see that you suspect it might have gotten too much sun]

just water it properly ..... letting it near dry between waterings.. and see what happens over the next few months ... lets try not to love it to death ...

id probably rule out the temp variable on your new history ...

and.. a plant that size.. could also still be stressed from the repotting .... which happened right around the time it got too much sun ...

bottom line.. stress ... and the only recourse.. is to let it ... get over it ...

as its stressed.. its not hungry.. fert is not a reasonable response ... just proper watering ....
