I’ve been wrecking my brain for about 6 months and what kitchen table goes in here? Ideally I’m looking for an extending table 160cm to 200cm. but would wood go? Is gloss too much With the gloss... helllppp?! I’m driving everyone crazy

you can do almost anything ...wood if it were mine....Scandinavian looking[CENTURY HOUSE Madison Wi ] or even an oak pedestal table from Craigs list...or something you then paint ... Just depends...are you a vintage resale shopper......or order new and spend and never change it....mismatched chair vibe w tablecloths and runners/ I'm always amazed how many table/chair sets are on Craigs list. but I would prefer a wood look. Looks like a hanging light fixture over a table might be the nice detail to finish it off.... if this is the final end point for the kitchen .

No to gloss. Yes to wood.

I’ve added a slightly more updated picture of the kitchen and also the floor space where the table would go.
I’m still trying to place where I’ll put an island also as I think I need more counter space.
I like the idea of wood but a darker or a lighter wood?
Thanks for all the suggestions so far, you guys have a better eye for this than I do!!

I would do something like this:

with clean simple lines, mimicking your kitchen aesthetic. Your floor tile has a hint of warmth which I think will play nicely with a light wood table.

What is the size of that space it does not look very large to me as for the material I am not sure that wood is the answer in that kitchen

You could also go with a marble top oval tulip table like this:

It really depends on what direction you are wanting to take this space. Warm it up? Wood. Keep it clean, crisp and modern? Go white/marble.

Loving the idea of wood so went shopping this morning and these are my options.
First is an oak “effect” table. The second is reclaimed wood - a little smaller than what I wanted as it’s 140cm and extends to 180cm but I like the look and the last is just a more rustic style and fixed at 160cm. What do you guys think?
I measured up my kitchen and it could take a 200cm table but I don’t want to use all the space for a table. I’d like to ideally put something behind the table (don’t ask what yet - maybe a display cabinet or even keep it clean and have some wall art)

I like the wood tone of the tops you've found, but I don't like that thick metal leg. Way too heavy in my opinion. I think it'd bring down the lightness of your space. I'd go with thinner metal or all-wood, thinner or tapered like an earlier poster suggested. Also, I wouldn't do bench seating. The openness of it looks nice, but it's an uncomfortable seat not to have a back to lean against, especially for anything longer than a drink. It's hard for me to tell the shape of that space (whether it's rectangular or square), but if square it might be more suited to a round table. Do a search of how much space is needed around tables - I think it's around 36 inches on all sides, but I could be wrong - and then see what shape and size would fit there.

Maybe build a peninsula table attached to wall like images below.

I suggest regular table heigth for everyday comfort.

Here's some guidelines for walk around & sitting spacing.

This is great thank you so much. I love the wood table with the 3 metal leg design actually. @artistsharonva thank you for the dimensions!
I wanted like a peninsula table or an island and my kitchen designer said I didn’t have enough space at the time but I definitely need some more counter space. I love baking so more is better!

I took some pictures with some boxes - the first one is 55inches (140) and with the second is 70inches (180 cm) . Measuring around the floor space closest to the outside door is 36inches and the room entrance door is at 48inches with the 70inch configuration. Just to give an idea of the space I’m working with.

What country are you in? That affects the options that are available.

Since IKEA is widely available, one of their tables might be a good, fairly inexpensive solution. their Norden birch table is just about the size you want and a nice light wood. You could get a coordinating kitchen cart for additional counter space.
