I'm not sure what you mean by a soft recliner, but I see no reason you can't have an attractive recliner, a sofa and a stationary arm chair. This recliner by Lee Industries has a down filled attached back cushion. I imagine it would be rather soft. It's also handsome. Any quality furniture manufacturer will allow you to specify your cushion type.

If you choose your shapes, scale and colors with harmony in mind, seating will play nicely together.

Most better furniture lines let you modify the seat and back cushion cores, this is something done regularly. A "standard" cushion is medium firm designed to suit the most people. Want it firmer, the foam density underneath the core can be increased. Want it softer? We can move in to the down type cores.

In my store I have a Hancock and Moore City Sofa set up with three different cushion cores. On the left arm is standard back and seat, the middle is the soft and plush Ultra Down, and the far right is set up with Plus 1 firmness and an extra full back. This lets clients try our the various cushion options on the same frame piece.

However, if you are shopping mid to low end, you're likely not going to have those options, especially if the pieces are imports. Good luck.

Hubby needs to go shopping and sitting until he finds one that is comfy for him and stylish for your space I like a sofa and usually 2 matching chairs but as mentioned you should be a ble to find 2 chairs that look alike but one reclines if that is the only recliner you need. I dislike recliners in my LR so I would be more inclined to have chairs and ottomans that can be moved and used for an extra seat in a pinch. BTW never a reclining sofa.
