Does the window to the right of the cooktop have to stay? IMO, that is what is making the room feel "off."

I would for sure do a corner cabinet before the bench seat and shorten the bench seat so it's only the width of the window, that empty white space there looks awkward.

Why do you have to keep the bay?

The window has to stay due to cost of replacing it. Raising it would require brickwork on the exterior.

Have you gotten actual estimates to replace it and replace brick? We had to do that at our last house and it was less than $600 to replace brick under 2 windows that got shortened in our kitchen. It was certainly money well spent.

Edited to add: If the window is on the back of the house, you could put a treated plywood panel under a new window instead of replacing the brick and paint it to blend in with the brick.

Agree with shead. Get a bid and consider reducing other line items in your budget. You'll get a much better bang for your remodeling buck if you're not letting windows boss around the plan.

We don’t know where you live, but I’ve had brickwork done several times and was pleasantly surprised at how inexpensive it was. It will be the cost of replacing the window that will be higher, but less if you forego having a bay. If you can swing it, it would make a big difference.

I’d also switch the ovens and the refrigerator. If someone wants to grab something out of the fridge when on is cooking, riptide works best to have it at the ”edge of the action”.
