Sherlock Holmes style basement
Hey everybody, I'm finally getting around to finishing off my basement. There's a cozy nook area next to an egress window well. It's drywalled, with can lights in the ceiling, and no flooring yet. There's a bathroom adjacent to the area. The space would be used for reading, making art, working, concentrating, focusing, learning, etc.
I'm going for a Sherlock Holmes vibe -
- cozy
- maybe dark
- maybe wallpaper
- maybe maybe built-ins
- wainscotting
Anyone have any ideas for this? I'm having trouble coming up with a good layout. Thanks for any input!

PRO6 years agoIMO none of these interiors would be conducive to making art or reading as for the rest I have no idea But these are 2 type of spaces that denote Sherlocks space All I see is aconstant need for dusting and really crappy lighting not really a spot I would want to use for meditation

Much will have to do with your own preferences. Do you just want a look? Or do you want a place to actually read and think? I can only read at a desk with bright direct lighting. (Even when I had two good eyes, instead of 20/80!)
