It doesn't look good to me. Try bringing the rod down to halfway between the top of the window and the ceiling. And my eye wants to see curtains on both sides of the window.

Yes too high. Most times the rod is significantly higher than the top of the window it's cuz the window is short and people what to gain some visual height, but you don't need that your windows are great.

I like to hang my curtains as high as possible as well. Yours do seem a little high. Before you lower the rod, try putting up a panel on the other side. Seeing so much of the rod is what is throwing off the look the most to my eye. See how you feel then.

I see no reason to hang curtains that high. At times one does need to, when camouflage for ill sized or ill place windows is needed to even things out. You only show the one small window so no it does not need a rod that far above the casing. Will you keep the blinds? Your windows will be heavy with 'dressing'.

I think part of the issue is that when curtains are hung higher than the window they need to be hung wider too so thar it looks proportional. That’s going to be tough to do with the door right there. It would be easier to tell what would look good overall seeing a picture of all of the windows that you are planning to dress.

The rod acts like a heavy eyebrow. What if you left it there but painted it and the mounting hardware the wall color? If you lower it, your drapes will need to be hemmed.

I would measure the area above the window frame and go one third and two thirds. If it’s 12”, then 4” above frame would be the height. You could extend them, if there’s room, for balance.

I agree a bit too high and also not wide enough. BTW I really dislike those silly looking side rods that take a panel and try to fool anyone that there are drapes ther. Even if you never close them IMO drapes should always be at least 2 x the width of the whole rod across the window. Those little short rods just look cheap.

I think what feels off more than the height is the width of the rod. It needs to be wider and you need two curtain panels to frame the window. I think once those proportions are squared away the height will be a non issue. Hope this helps! Also, good job on curtain length!

I don't mind the height if you widen the length of the rod and have two panels. I would also eliminate the blinds. It is too much. You can put in a double rod if you want a sheer to create some privacy but at least you will get some light.
