Bathroom colors advice

last modified: 7 years ago

Hi,

We are looking for advice for our windowless bathroom.

We absolutely loved this floral tile floor, and we want to work around that.

Which colors would you guys suggest for the walls?

If we go with white shaker cabinets, which color should the vanity top be?

We would love to keep the bathroom bright, since it does not have a window, and fresh/warm looking.

The picture below, show two colors that we thought would go well with the tiles. What do you think?

Thanks in advance!,

Angela

Your floor tiles should be the showpiece of the room and all the colors should be extracted from them. I like the doors you picked it, however I would not go with the counter sample that’s shown in the picture. Pick a charcoal grey quartz counter, the same colour as in the tile. It would be a nice contrast to the vanity doors. As for a wall paint color, match the creamy/white in the tile. It will brighten up the room and make it look fresh and clean.

Thank you!! Everything you say makes sense. We did find a darker counter that matches with the tiles (see picture below)
but not a charcoal color. What do you think? Thanks again :)

I think your original choices were perfect. The countertop was a blend of the two tones in the stone, but lighter. Your second option is fine also, but I don't think you need something that dark. Wait until everything is installed to decide on the walls, but I would look at a lighter shade of the light blue color in your tiles for the walls. Finish it off with a white shower curtain. It will be beautiful!

I woud do a white quartz counter. Keep it clean simple and bright. I think the tan colored counters look dated. Have you ever considered doing a blue cabinet with white counters ?

I would not do any shade of gray in a windowless room.

I still prefer the dark charcoal color counter with your white cabinet doors. I wouldn’t add any other color to the room, let the tiles be the showpiece. I found a picture that may help you visualize it better. It’s not the exact tile as yours, but it shows that you don’t need any other color in the room other than black & white to make it look gorgeous. Good luck.

Thank you for the picture/advice! I can see what you are saying about the tiles as centerpiece.

We are open to the idea of putting other color cabinets as you suggested (Design interior South) That picture and color combination looks super pretty. We would definitely consider it. Thanks!!

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><md>Today I tried the “wild oats” color in the wall and it does not look good in my opinion

The wild oats color is too dull for a windowless room. Either white walls with a blue cabinet or very light blue walls with a white cabinet would work. If you decide to use a blue cabinet, stick with a white countertop.

What is the tile? It's gorgeous!

I rather like your Wild Oats counter idea. The important thing is to match the paint and counter to the floor tile. I hope your cabinets match the white in the floor tile...whites can clash. Take a piece of your tile to compare it to the cabinetry color before they are painted. Even if ready-made and off the shelf, you need to be sure the cabinets and floor work together.

I liked your first choices as well. I think picking up the light blue from the tiles would be a nice choice for the walls. You don't want anything too baby blue, but something a little muddier would be nice. Even a cool white with a blue base could work.

Definitely a white countertop , the tans really look dated and dull. As you said it’s windowless , you want the reflections flight and bright with your tile choice .
Should you decide on change later a white countertop would also make choices easier . Tans can have some funny undertones . Enjoy your remodel!

Maria M. Thanks! The brand and model (?) should be Unicomstarker; Reverie.

Groveraxle I love the idea/picture you posted. Thanks!

I agree, I would go with the darker blue color vanity and white countertop like in the picture above. And the lighter blue color for the walls. And consider lighting. Put a recessed light in your shower, and definitely do sconces around the vanity mirror.

I like the blue vanity cabinet with a white countertop. I also like a white porcelain sink and countertop that are all one piece, but IDK if you would want to do that.

Thank you eveyone for your advice!! You guys have opened our eyes for new possibilities. Now, we are actually leaning towards the blue cabinets + white tops idea. We think that it would be a good change since all our kitchen cabinetry is white shaker (not that they need to be coordinated but we are still interested in that visual change) As for paint, we would look into a white color, perhaps with some blue in it, or just look at the creamy part of the floor tile and find something similar.
We are super excited to start painting and putting everything in place! I will share pictures once is all done. Thanks again!
