I like the glass tile. I'm not sure about the chevron... maybe it's the smaller size of the tiles, but it doesn't appear to match well with the glass subway tile you've selected.

You can make your backsplash pop *and* remain calm by using color. I think that herringbone is way too busy with the counter, and putting it above the cooktop would be dated.

1. I don't think it's a great combo.
2. Yes it is a little dated - but if you want it, you should do it, just with better tile.
3. Agreed - you have good instincts.

Do you have inspiration images for your space? If not start Google-ing images of kitchens that use your counter material with white cabinets. What you'll find is that many of them use the counter material for a bs. You're also not the first person to struggle to find a tile for it, even here on Houzz. You're not even the first to pull that chevron tile.

Most people will pair that material with gray - consider going for white. I know your cabinets are white, but it frees you up to choose a really bold shape, or a large format tile, something more modern and more beautiful than gray glass.

I don't think the star and cross shape is right for you - not modern enough - but the overall look of white cabinets, strong tile shape in a white bs, blue (ish) island, could look something like this.

Thank you for your responses! I have looked on pinterest(extensively!)for inspiration pictures but it's hard to find much with these counters. Most people seem to do some type of white tile with gray grout and while I don't mind that look at all, in my head I was looking for something a little "prettier." I really like stone which is why I gravitated towards the chevron. I picked up some stone subway tile but none of them looked right against the counters.

I am remodeling my kitchen and trying to pick a backsplash and wall color. My kitchen opens to my living room with a stone fireplace. I was thinking about the MSI Bellagio Blend with the Calacatta Laza and doing a taupe island with white cabinets. Would this look good?

I have kraftmaid dove white cabinets and I would love the calacatta laza countertops by msi .. I’m just afraid it’s going to Be not white enough to match the dove white ?? Advice please!!!
