According to CR the Electrolux edges out the Whirlpool.

Whirlpool predicted reliability is Good, while Electrolux is Very Good.

Both are equal in noise and vibration at Very Good.

Owner satisfaction on both are rated Good. Electrolux at gentleness is Very Good, Whirlpool Good.

Both at washing performance and water efficiency are rated Excellent.

I have an Electrolux (three years old) and like it. I only wish it did spins between all rinses.

I vote for Electrolux.

While it’s not whirlpool I do have a Maytag that replaced a 15 year old Electrolux and just love it. I looked at the newer whirlpool machines (I believe it was the load and go model) and looked like it was made out of a lot of plastic (the door anyways).

The only issue I have with the new Electrolux machines is accessing the filter. It requires service to do so or tearing the front of the machine apart.

My Maytag does not have a front access panel for the filter however you take the back panel off and it’s right there. Just something to think about with Electrolux. They clean so well though.

Curious if you could access the filter via the bottom by tipping the machine back?

And have you considered a LG? They are very reliable, clean and rinse well and vibration is pretty good.

I absolutely HATE my Electrolux efls627utt and matching dryer. Small things like socks, get stuck in the rubber gasket and my mattress covers have nearly been torn. As soon as I open the door, everything falls forward, but unless you have the washer on a stand, the door doesn't clear a hamper. Water also drips out of the front door. The latest straw was a random leak out of the cold hose that damaged my laundry room floor and the units are only 6 months old. The dryer is also annoying as clothes are pushed forward and fall onto the lint trap which makes the sensor think that the lint trap is full so the dryer stops. I cannot dry jeans with other clothes or they will not get dry and my mattress covers get stuck between the front of the drum and the end of the dryer baffle or the lint trap. I had Whirlpool units prior to these, and while they were not without defects, they did not damage my clothes nor did they ever ruin my floor.

Seven years old and in my years of living, I have never loved an appliance as much as this washer & dryer (I'm 70). I have never skimped on cost regarding appliances over the years, but these two appliances are truly the best I've ever owned.

I have never had a service call in 7 yrs, they work like the day I bought them. I do a lot of laundry, heavy washing. Rugs, down comforters, blankets, dog beds, etc.

We live in Florida now and have a lot of guests (family, grand kids).

I have never had the problems Kim describes. They work flawlessly.

I recommend them to everyone. My daughter bought them last year and loves them. The steam feature is incredible. It is on the dryer as well and I use it all the time. Takes wrinkles out even if the clothes have been in the machine all day. It is fantastic to use for freshening the pillows and comforters.
