Beige? Beige? Or Green?

I am flipping this house in NW Arkansas. It is in a neighborhood of mostly 1 story ranch style homes in varying shades of beige with brick or stone accents. I’d appreciate some recommendations for an exterior paint color. I am planning on cedar shake shingles above the garage.

We need pics and also an idea of how much you want to spend.I have to say I rarely like shakes on a ranch

Thanks. What would you do over the garage then? Not loving the current style of siding. The angled cut seems too busy. There’s vertical wood siding on the rest of the house. And still need color idea.

After cleaning the stone, pick the lightest or next-lightest color beige from the stone. Use a white trim and paint the entryway and front door the same white, too.

Please show an update when you are ready.

I agree that the siding on there now is appropriate to the home. I also agree with cleaning the stone and the roof to reveal their true colors. The shutters should definitely go-they are not conducive with the modern style of the house. The black windows will be a nice contrast to a lighter siding color. Can you post a close up of the brick and of the front door?

I don’t have a picture of the front door. Right now it’s a flat wide door with added 2x4 to give it a “ranch” look. Planning on removing those. And giving it a fresh pop of color. We’re also replacing the garage door which is now also the diagonal wood. I really don’t like the diagonal and think a horizontal wood layout would be better. Your thoughts?

Thanks for photos. Horizontal wood layout would be fine, especially if you can't match the vertical boards exactly. With this house, I'd try to lighten it up as much as possible, including the entryway. if the garage interior has not been finished yet, you can add a lot of appeal if you finish it with wallboard and whatever off white paint you use elsewhere for trim or walls. Add good lighting. A fancy mostly glass garage door would be overkill, but a standard garage door with a row of rectangular windows would be good.

On your style house, I would prefer the diagonal rather than horizontal. It fits in and its what makes the house unique.

I like that. It’s growing on me. Especially since the painter can patch the holes.

And we need to replace the roof It’s in bad shape.

I would look at a gray blue or gray green to put on the siding. Do the roof in a charcoal gray. Reinforce the black windows by painting the trim black. A cedar wood colored contemporary style front door would fit in nicely with the style of the house. Something along these lines to let in some light.

Hi... have not read posts, and I'm in SoCal, but I noticed that your materials and placement is like my neighbors'... would you like less shutters and less what it is, and more transitional look?

If treed lot or rural, I see nothing wrong with red. I just wonder about new window[s] larger... and touches less rustic. I'm not pro, so don't really know - if you want rustic then chunky shakes, yes when added to stone/brick?

And is there any other feature that factors in - such as fence etc.??

Have the roof power washed before you do anything else.

I, too, prefer the angled siding on the garage.

And, I like the stacked stone work. Working with it ( grays and taupes)for a color (either stain or paint….ask a pro which choice is correct), my color suggestion is the lightest of the bricks.

B.M. Simply White for anything which will take paint.

Your monolithic stone reminds me of this house where charcoal gray and natural red cedar combine with a few strategically placed shakes for a great look. Once you pressure wash the stone, your color theme will emerge. I wouldn't do a lot of shakes; perhaps just a few for fun above the trim piece leading to the entry where the vertical siding is pieced and anywhere else where there is a trim piece between sections of the vertical siding that weren't tall enough. Better photos and close ups of the entry would generate better suggestions for you.
