Frozen Onions... Can I dehydrate?

So up here in WI we have had a couple weeks of well below normal temps and record snowfalls for the time of year. I had my onion harvest (100+pounds) in the shed to cure a little more before taking them into the house. Unfortunatly the bottom dropped out and we had record lows of near 0 overnight earlier in the week and daytime just in the 20's. Due to my work schedule I couldn't get the onions into a warmer spot in time. They froze :(

Of course this weekend things are going back to normal with highs in the mid 40's, meaning they will start to thaw and I will have a mess. Before they completly thaw, do you think I could slice some of them up and stick them in my dehydrator? I know I can't save them all but maybe a few, or will I end up with dehydrated mush instead of slices? And is dehydrated onion mush really that bad?

As long as they stay cold I dont' think they are in any danger of starting to rot before I can start slicing them up tomorrow afternoon.

Thanks.
