Weep holes and tiles over existent concrete

We are interested in upgrading our patio with travertine. Our contractor told us we can lay the travertine tiles over our existing concrete patio without issues. We currently have about 2" weep-holes that would be covered. Will that cause any issues? Want to make sure this won't cause any long term problems. An option could be keep tiles 1/2” away from the wall and fill with sand to the air keep flowing through the weep holes. I appreciate any suggestion here. They are in the first photo circled in red and along the whole wall.

I don't know a whole lot about this, but when you start affecting an existing design feature, you're always taking a risk. We've tried to place some outdoor tiles with sand surround only, and that sand shifts a lot. Don't expect the sand to stay in place. You might be able to keep the weep holes open but just grout around them.

Hi Rafael - I’m going thru the same issue, I want to install tiles on the existing concrete patio floor but we be partially covering some weep holes. What you end up doing?

Would love to know of some solutions. Have the same issue with a convered porch with concrete flooring. I would like to cover the porch with paver tile. But the weep holes would be partially covered. It should be noted that water rarely penetrates to porch area. What options do I have?
