Water Management Questions - #2

I covered my heeled in (with pot) hostas when the weather said it would rain and then within hours freeze. We got dumped with about six inches of snow. Now five days later I am uncovering that area. I will put some snow there to act as an insulator. But now in couple of days it is going to be above freezing and may rain for a day or so. Should I cover up this area so it won't get waterlogged? I purposely heeled in the pots late in the season because some were not dormant and I wanted to avoid wet conditions. Any suggestions as to what I should do to make ensure these hosta survive and don't rot because of excessive moisture?
