Will a yellowish light in ceiling chandelier make the paint look greener?

Perhaps, but if using warm bulbs in the chandelier (say, 2700k), you’ll also want to use matching color temperature in the recessed lighting. What is the color temperature of the recessed lighting? Do they use light bulbs, which can be changed, or LEDs?

BTW: The chandelier and knob finishes don’t have to be the same. You could, for example, use the gold chandelier and the black knobs, or even a cut-glass knob! (I don’t like the ORB light in case you couldn’t tell.)

I reread your post and realized I need more info regarding this statement:

Prior to painting, we compared the sample sea salt paint on large boards on all of the walls, after installing the can lights. However, NOW it looks blue..

1. What color were the walls prior to painting?

2. Did you use a primer? If so, was it tinted or white?

3. How many top coats were applied?

4. How were the sample boards primed? How many top coats?

5. Do the sample boards look green next to the walls?

We painted over a builder beige. Walls were primed with white kilz and two coats of Sea Salt applied. No bleed through from the old beige shows.

yes the samples, paint chip and walls look the same.

Perhaps the orangey honey oak cabinets created the warm light cast prior to painting? Perhaps a brassy light will bring that warm cast back in? IF that was the case, then the old Formica beigey countertop and old linoleum floor would be causing the weird blue ? It is a windowless interior space

5. Do the sample boards look green next to the walls?

This is the determining test, imo. (I painted a pink room grey and it looks green. The paint I peeled off the plastic spout looks grey in the same light... Thinking I should have primed even though I used BM Aura.)

I love all your chandelier choices. My preference is the pagoda or the drum chandelier. Double check your measurements. I agree you can mix and match your finishes. Just make sure the style is cohesive.

Yes they look the same color- blue . The blue does look like a nursery,,which is good. It isn't what I was hoping for- which was coordinate with the bench. It looks more Ike coastal blue sky.

In natural light as well? I know Sea Salt is called a chameleon like colour by many.

The space is windowless. So, no natural light enters. When we conidered using the SW Sea Salt oupside on the front door- it completely washed out to a barely there gray. - West facing front door- afternoon light

Design-wise, the fact that the walls don’t perfectly match the bench might be a blessing in disguise. When everything matches or has an equal counterpart, the result tends to look boring and/or staged. It’s when things are a bit off that spaces take on a more sophisticated feel. If it makes you feel better, though, I do see blue in your bench. ;)

Oh, the lotus flower chandelier! Yes!!! That one. :D And this way, you've even more freedom for the hardware. As for dusting it, surely there are tips and tricks for such light fixtures? Maybe one of those silicone air blowers? My only qualm is...how the heck do you change the bulb?

I think you'll have luck with a yellow light in your chandelier (LED 2700 or 3000 K). In any case, blue and green pair very well. Can you take a picture of your bench against your Sea Salt wall?

Changing lightbulb- YES! The ease of doing this task is valued high on the list. The lotus light has a circular opening underneath the pointy sphere. - (I think)

On my screen, this blue Sea Salt is a happy accident. The colours look great in the room. I hear you on baby steps for the polished brass doorknobs. We've been living with mismatched 60s brass in our house for over 12 years now. I considered painting mine as well but then read accounts that it quickly chips. After a while, I stopped seeing them. :P The Story of Yanxi Palance looks beautiful and very elaborately produced.

Honestly this is a laundry room and dog wash how much bling do you need there get some LED bulbs in 4000K and see what happens to why you did not choose a color from the bench is a puzzle even though I have no idea what the purpose of the bench is.This is a pretty generic laundry room nor sure about a lot of these choices.

As I stated above, the original plan was vetoed and DH's (the contractor) rogue decisions followed. The bench is needed, as this is the puppies' room when we leave. My boy loves to sleep under it -The color Oyster Bay seemed to match, but we wanted a lighter shade.for the walls. So, we chose from the paint swatch family (See above) Our "lighten the color" request was met with a puzzled look by paint store personnel. - So- so much for that.

This was the original plan(De Gournay- (Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains), that was met with disdain by some Houzzers - (surprise surprise) My previous post requested assistance for a similar scenic wallpaper that was less pricey. In the end, DH vetoed wallpaper altogether.

Thank you Pat for pointing out that it is a generic room, I wasn't aware. Using your rationale, one could say that kitchens are used for cooking - another task oriented space. .Bedrooms are for sleeping- your eyes will be closed. So, why should they be pretty? ....

Must the space be ugly because it is a utility room? - should I just keep the deep plastic sink, Formica and linoleum floor that came with the house?

we chose washed out colors as dogs are not colorblind, as so many think. They cannot see red and orange. Note: White paint is a fluorescent to their eyes. So, since I'd hate to be in a dayglo room for hours at a time, we chose muted colors guided by a palette I found in a veterinary research article..

I remember your post about the wallpaper. I thought the entire design was heavenly and am sorry it was vetoed. I have nothing to add about your current dilemma but cant wait to see what you end up with. Yes, given the thought process above, there should be no design in the kitchen, bathroom, or laundry room but those bulbs sure will keep things nice and bright ;-)

It baffles me as to why some folks poo poo other's attempts to make their spaces pretty on a "design advice forum." Seriously, if I liked how the space is coming to fruition (rogue design choices thus far) would I bother to post here?

I wanted a space with a Chinoiserie look. How can I achieve this in the space? I thought the remaining choices- hardware and light might help. Open to suggestions.

Oh, these are beautiful, DK! How would you display them? I imagine they could withstand the humidity? I know wallpaper was nixed but what about framing some? Perhaps do a few panels on the bench wall? Btw, I was in Ikea today and spotted a picture of an almond blossom that reminded me vaguely of Chinoiserie paper. Not the original look you wanted, I know. Thinking of using the eliptical shape tiles to repeat the same shape in the cabinet doors. These have an iridescence to them. .Would a plain white oval or shell mother of pearl be better? Also, do you think this peacock wallpaper would work, or not? I found a smaller version on Wayfair that I could mount to a frame as wall art. So, DH won't worry a wall paper. (I'm not thinking of resale appeal -just wanting a spa- laundry.)

I love the tile and the peacock wallpaper! My only misgiving about that pretty tile is the grout and maintenance aspect. Will that be too much grout for you and is the mother of pearl tile too delicate a surface for your needs? The wallpaper is a winner but check the scale of the motif. The examples shown are murals. Will the peacock be whole if you order the smallest size, etc.? Also, check the size you want against canvas frame sizes before ordering to make sure it will be an easy wall art project. You don't want the wallpaper to be an inch narrower than your preferred canvas size, for example. Might be obvious but thought I'd mention it. :)

I've been searching on-line as well as visiting all of the tile showrooms in my area. On-line I found the same one over and over again, with the least expensive price being through Houzz.

I would keep the lighting plain and easy to clean. Laundry rooms get dusty, dirty, linty...can't imagine trying to clean that Lotus Flower chandy....but maybe it's dishwasher/ power washer/ car wash safe....
