Living room advice

Could you please tell me your thoughts on shutters for the three windows of the living room in the second photo. You will see we have shutters on the left-hand side on the smaller windows. The back of the living room is a south facing wall and we have an awning in the summer to block out the bright sunshine but cannot use the awning in the winter due to the snow on the deck. The shutters will be bi-folding so can be folded back in the summer. Privacy is not an issue.

Also, I have attached a photo of the other wall in the living room. We love this piece of art but I think it is much too yellow for the shade of wall colour. The whole house is painted Balboa Mist with Cloud White trim. Any suggestions for a darker colour for this wall? Also, the furniture shown in the picture is being changed.

I think the shutters will look great! About the painting, I would move it entirely and put the TV on that wall rather than blocking the windows. Move the painting behind the sofa the height will look good there, the one you have there now catches a lot of glare because of the glass so it might be nice to put the canvas there anyway.

I think the art goes great, the yellowish color just warms it up. Yellow looks great with grey IMO.

I agree with both comments above. In addition, with the leggy seating pieces, I'd prefer the two chairs sit entirely on the rug. Once you move the TV between the windows, try the two chairs together and on the rug with a small table between them. I'd also prefer a round metal and glass coffee table.

Thank you everyone for your comments. The shutters are ordered and we are trying to figure out a way to move the tv from the window wall.

Hi, I feel like you can move the chair beside the frame where the coffee table is (looking at the window and the other chair). Change the beautiful frame to the wall behind the couch and put the TV without the sideboard in the wall bettween the windows. If you do it on the other wall, there will not be space for both frames, and light will blur the tv vision. Hope to see pictures! Good luck!

What do you mean by "trying to figure out a way" maybe we can help you?

RL Relocation LLC - Because we watch tv very little in the main living room, I thought maybe placing a small TV on the bottom shelf of the table under the canvas art if we leave the table there. My husband thinks that's a crazy idea. What do you think?

Maybe remove the TV completely. The art is too large over that table to begin with so adding a TV below it will only make it worse

If this is not a tv room than remove it completely, no need to have the "eyesore" in there if this is more of a sitting room. you could always use a tablet, or small tv/monitor in the kitchen if you needed.. removing the tv from this room will really make it a much more nice space. In which case you can leave the tree painting there and scoot the armchair to go under it. Get rid of the smaller two wooden armchairs and exchange it for another more cozy reading chair, swing the floor lamp over to the window side of the room at that point since you have sconces by the painting. You may consider scaling those up a size in the future.
