I think it looks really nice, lots of character. But I wouldn't do anymore, it may be too much of a good thing. Maybe just the other side of that small wall and stop there.

I don't like light boxes, they remind me of the 1970's fluorescent light boxes. Look at some other way to incorporate the wood in a ceiling fixture.

A Cedar Kitchen LED Reccesed lighting box.

I think a recessed thin panel/ panels LED would look fine but w/o cedar. Either a plain white frame or aluminum/ silvery metal. Think I would prefer white.

Are the track lights staying or going?

I like it. I am a wood person though. I’d go around that small vertical wall and then stop. I might switch the outlet covers to stainless or black on that wall also. It’s cool you did this yourself! Impressive.

another change I might consider is more industrial style pendants over the peninsula.

I think what you have done, looks very nice. I wouldnt do anymore. A light box isnt used much anymore, and you have just the right amount of cedar now.

The recessed track lighting you saw was part of the living room. Thier staying. I would do inset LEDs but I live in a condo and have to drill though slot of joist and worry about making contact with the sprinkler lines. I like the idea of a the LEDs sitting in a white panel box in the kitchen to aim more light over the counter. I'm stopping with the cedar. I only added a skirt under the counter and a base board. I can't remember the last time I saw a moth inside. the cedar is treated, sealed and I inspected each pease. I will be replacing the outlet covers. Thanks ci_lantro, moma goose, roccouple and cat_ky.
I'm laying on the floor now. My condo only 800sq ft. when I remodeled I extended the counter width an extra 6 inches. So an area got alittle smaller. So I had to downsize my Sectional Sofa. I sold it IOFER in 4hrs. My new leather Sofa and recliner will be here Saturday. it's going to be sweet.

Its a bit heavy for the small kitchen space. I would stop adding more now. I like western red cedar a lot, but it is overbearing. I saw an entire house that was raw with it and wow. It was like the 1800's instantly. It makes a great accent, but a little goes a long way.

Too much country rustic. Way too much. Not nearly enough Modern. Get in some steel and glass. And get rid of some of that striped cedar. It’s on overload. If it were all one single tone, and clear instead of #2knotty, it would be better. With all the colors and knots, it needs very little wood to make a big statement. It’s shouting way too loud in that small space. Tone it down by removing under the bar. Then reevaluate. You may still need to tone down the stripes with a stain.

I’d cover under the overhang with a stainless sheet, not wood. And get more modern, not black, lighting in there. No dark grout. It’s all very heavy.

I love the wall. If you like the peninsula's wood leave it! I think it looks ok but maybe if it was horizontal like the wall it would have been better. Industrial (or even a nod to steam punk) type lighting would be nice in here.

If the project was in process, I would have suggested horizontal cedar under the counter as well. That would have lent a more modern vibe, IMO. I still like what you've done.

As to comments about it being 'heavy', I'm gonna' go way out on a limb here and suggest that 'David' is a guy. And that one should expect a guy to design his pad w/ a heavier touch. IMO, the result is appropriately masculine. We shouldn't expect all fluffy and light. :-)
