That rug goes great with the sectional! Especially with your dark wood floors. How do you like that sectional? Thinking of getting the sofa version in the same color.....

Maybe, but it looks too small. I like leggy seating to sit entirely on the rug for a grounded feeling, and it should extend past the ends of the sofa by at least a foot, if not more. Consider what you want for an accent color and incorporate some of that color into a rug. Here are some warmer accents.

Hi, D Lap. I'd like to see a rug that has more color variation. While you may not prefer the geometric pattern of the one below, note how it references the colors you have in your open concept space: gray from the lower kitchen cabinets, camel from your counter chairs and blue from your sofa.

I like the Oriental style of the one you've chosen. So, you could look for a similar style with more variation to bring all of your other choices together.

@manon thank you for the recommendation. Yeah we don’t prefer that pattern but we are definitely open to finding something with more color in it. What did you use to photoshop the rug into the picture?

You're welcome, D Lap. I used the "view in room" tool on Crate and Barrels site to put the rug in your room. RugsUSA and Esale Rugs have similar tools. Cottage Fever's mood board concept is another good way to visualize how something might interact, color/style wise, in a room.

Very cool sofa/sectional. I would try a small runner, (they have a 28" x 8' runner that is not very expensive and easy to return) to test the colors. Blue can be tricky to work with and I don't ever trust the Internet colors. By doing this, you can either use the runner perhaps in a hallway, or entry, or return it pretty easily. This rug comes in a 9x12 and that might be your best bet. But I would need room and sectional measurements to be sure. You can measure 12" from your wall to about 12" beyond the sectional and put some blue painters tape on the floor. Then measure 12' in the other direction and put some tape. That will help you determine size to order if the color works out.

I think Manon and decoenthusiaste have some great ideas - definitely don’t get a rug that is just blue (and white)... the room will lack character. Other accent colors like yellow-ish go a long way.

Sorry to hijack your thread, but your ceiling fan caught my eye. Can you tell me the brand name?

Reasons Beverly's last rug works:

--adds pattern and contrast to lhe long expanse of the navy sofa and dark floors

-- picks up the warm gold colors of the coffee table and the leather counter stools

--larger size defines the conversational space

--adds softness to the room

And yes to art work and window treatments that echo some of the warm accent colors.

Can you move your sectional away from what appears to be a radiator?

@ulisdone barely. Space is limited we can maybe pull it a few inches from the wall.

@ratherbesewing I’ll post the link to the fan. We love it. As somebody who hates ceiling fans this one isn’t overbearing. The remote has 6 speed settings and the ability to reverse the blades directly from the remote.

@beverlyfladeziner can you post the link to that last rug everybody loves? I can’t find it! While it’s not necessarily my style it is beautiful and I think it would grow on us. Thanks for the recommendations.
