And people wonder why there are all those illegals trying to sneak into the US! So right now it's avocados, how soon before it moves on to tomatoes and peppers and corn and....??? Yeah - sounds like such a wonderful place to live - where the food that you eat is under the control of a bunch of violent criminals, yeah, sounds like the kind of place I'd like to live. I hope all the folks that want to go there to live from the US because they can't stand it anymore don't expect the US to use it's money and resources to come and rescue them when it gets too extreme there. Wow, Rita. Do you actually not know that our own agriculture is controlled by chemical companies like Monsanto, Dow and Bayer. Mexico has actually kicked Monsanto out of their country because their GMO corn was contaminating the heirloom corns they have grown for years to maintain the original maize strains.

Why are you so angry? This sounds more like a political rant to me. I'm moving to Mexico because I can no longer afford to live here. There are many people leaving the US for the same reason. I'm truly happy for anyone who isn't in my situation, but please don't attack me because I'm poor. That's just cruel and unnecessary.

If you want to live in a place that's rife with corruption and poverty (I'm talking genuine poverty) and to defend that country's inability to control crime and corruption - go. I'd rather deal with Monsanto than a bunch of terrorist gangs who prey on very poor hardworking people who can't afford to buy protection from the government. I'm adding this edit because I got to thinking - I'm very sorry that you are financially in a bad way. But here in the US poor people do have support - granted it's minimal but at least you can get help with food, shelter and healthcare. Do you think the government in Mexico will do that? This is why there are so many trying to get work HERE where they won't be getting jobs on small organic family farms, they'll get jobs on gigantic corporate farms that - guess what? - use CHEMICALS, probably MONSANTO chemicals to grow the humongous amounts of crops that not only feed the US, it also feeds the REST OF THE WORLD. So you say you are poor and can live easier in Mexico. Well, your poverty here is probably going to be considered well-off there so maybe your decision to go there is better for you. You will be able to buy your security whether it be from the local government or from the cartels, whichever works. You will be living on the other side of the wealth fence while the ones who are still poor there will still be trying to get jobs here because there will be no help for them from their government.

This hurt me more than you can know, Rita. I am probably one of the most tolerant people you will ever meet. You and I have both been on this forum for many years, and I thought you knew me better. This has broken my heart so much that I'm going to leave the forum for awhile.

I'm so sorry you have such a low opinion of Mexico and its people, but your opinion is based on misinformation put out by politicians to turn us against "the other" and each other as well. All I can say to that is if you think their government is any more corrupt than ours, just think of it like this -- the big corporations that are killing this country AND its people PAY politicians every day to keep them in power. They are our cartels. If you think killing people by poisoning their food and water or selling them deadly drugs or tainted meat, or cutting funds for health care, public housing and food assistance is any better than any other way of killing them, you really need to pray for God to open your eyes and your mind.

I'm used to people who have means not understanding what real poverty is here in the US. I wrote a long paragraph explaining more, but you aren't going to listen, because your mind is already set about how other people should live and believe.

I'll pray for you, Rita, but I beg you to please stop watching the news for awhile, and start loving people for who they are, not what the TV or Twitter says about them. When I got very depressed, my doctor asked me if I watch the news, or if I'm involved in politics. At the time, I was, and he told me to turn off the news and get off of social media, especially get away from politics. He said he's never had so many new cases of depression and anger come to him, and most of it is because of politics and social media. You used to be so sweet to everyone, and I loved your gardens and how you always tried things nobody else grew. Now I see what you're truly like and the hatred inside your heart, and it's just too much to take. It makes me wonder how many other people here harbor the same hatreds.

Didn't you recently agree with me in a previous post that people take offense too easily when someone has a different opinion from them? So now, this is the second time in as many weeks that you have become so offended by what someone else believes that you want to not post here anymore? I can't believe this. I am not going to tell you off here, I'm just going to go down the line and address each issue that you've brought up. First, you said in your previous post that I was ranting and making a political issue out of it and then you proceeded to politicize things further by bringing up Monsanto. So it's OK for you but not for anyone who disagrees with you? Then you said I have a low opinion of Mexico. I hope that you aren't confusing that with what I think about Mexicans. I have always had a soft spot in my heart for Mexicans. They are hardworking, family oriented, and are just trying to figure out how to feed their families. It's the corrupt government, gangs, and the very few very wealthy who have the government in their pockets and don't give a damn about the poor people. I've got news for you, Dirty, I came from the most poverty-stricken family that I've ever known. Parents were poor and alcoholic. We kids very often went to bed hungry after only eating a biscuit all day long. We lived in a condemned house once with no water, plumbing, electricity for a couple of months because we were homeless. I had to quit high school in the 11th grade because I DIDN'T OWN A PAIR OF SHOES. I've picked in the bean fields back when they didn't have to provide water, toilets to the people working. So please don't think and say I hate poor people. You know nothing about me. You say you pray for me, well - I'll do the same for you. I'll pray that you stop getting so offended if you don't agree with something another person says on here and then make it look like the other person is picking on you. So as I stated in your other post (and again, you seemed to agree) let's just cool our jets here, and agree to disagree?? And frankly, although I'm not going to complain to the powers that be here at Gardenweb because that's the coward's way, I think your last statement about me "having hatred inside my heart" actually qualifies as a personal insult, which is not supposed to be allowed on this site.
