I suspect that most people do not want to spend a stunning $789 on a vacuum cleaner.

Not going to tell you what I spent for my Capricorn...

I get it Wdcruise. But, I can spend $800 on a vacuum once every 20 years that has a true HEPA filter. Or, I could spend $300 on a vacuum that spits out dust every 5 years. The math is going to work out in my favor and I'm not going to have to deal with dust mite allergies.

Is it the Airbelt E3? I've been contemplating this vacuum recently.

I currently have a Lux Guardian Platinum and can't stand the power head. It self adjusts and I don't think it's getting deep down clean. And the noise of the power head is a loud shrill. I cringe using it. The vacuum itself is quiet.

I've had a Miele but didn't like the small accessories.

What don't you like about the Airbelt?

Yes. I failed to type the E. So far I like it. Remember, I was going to buy the upright and ended up with the canister. I came very close to buying both. But, common sense prevailed. I just bought the canister. You won't find these at Best Buy or Wal-Mart. You have to go to a professional cleaning store. I support small business when I can.

I watched some videos on YouTube about the upper end vacuums before I went to the store. It came down to the two units manufactured in the Germany, Miele and SEBO. Anything manufactured in China simply won't last as long or do the job I require. And, none of them are HEPA units. I don't believe in buying cheap and throwing away.

I hadn't heard of SEBO before. I saw it on the YouTube video. My vacuum store carried both. I had experience with the Miele and was generally satisfied with the exception of having to buy two replacement hoses and the loss of electrical contact on the retractable cord real that mysteriously affects the power to the motor over seventeen years. As time went on, I was not happy with the power head. It just wasn't doing the job on the pet hair. I clean my own house. I don't have a service cleaning. So, this matters to me.

One of the comparison videos by a vacuum shop highlighted some of the flaws in the Miele upright engineering, cheaper plastic parts and poor design. I thought he had some good points on the video about the Miele upright. The dealer at the vacuum store agreed with the other shop's assessment.

I asked the dealer at the vacuum store about his repair experience. He told me that the most common repair was someone damaging the power cord. Of course, that isn't specific to a particular brand. That's an accident. He said other than that, they don't see the SEBO's in the shop for repair very often. They see the Miele's on a regular basis. He also said that the SEBO repair parts are a lot less money, if you do need a repair.

The prices were similar for similar features. They would both do the job. That was not the final determiner. It was a judgement as to which would last the longest. The fact that I could remove the beater bar and clear off the accumulated pet hair was very compelling. You cannot do that with the Miele. Actually, the Miele is set up so can't take it apart to clean the bar. It requires a servicing in order to do that. With the SEBO I can easily take it off, clean it or replace it.

The self-drive mechanism on the power head is taking a little getting used to. It's like a self-propelled mower, it keeps moving forward with very little assist. I'm used to the Dyson where I had to use all of my shoulder to move it forward. The power to the power head is adjustable at the top of the hose. It's very quiet. I love the longer power cord. I don't have to unplug and move the plug as often. That makes vacuuming faster.

My vacuum is a Singer self-propelled upright bought on $85 close-out at Walmart 30+ years ago. Works fine. :-)
