water on window sill normal?

Hi. We had this entire window and unit replaced a month ago due to leaking on the inside center window sill. This drainage is more excessive than any of our other windows, although this is our largest window. Just seems odd being in a v like that. Any expert out there have any opinions? I’m so worried we will end up with leaks again and dealing with it all winter.

Did you go through with any more of the trouble shooting to determine where the leak was Last time around? Might just have to wait and see if holds tight this time.

you need to determine where the water is coming from. the gutter seems really close to window. I wonder if the water running off the roof may be coming over the gutter and getting to the window. we have almost the same setup and we ended up with a wider gutter. just a thought. go out next time there is a heavy rain and see if you can tell where its coming from.

maybe one of those metal guards in that corner would help

Hi. Thanks for the feedback. Water is not coming over the gutter on the brick anymore. The brick is dry by that gutter. We added diverters but you just can’t see them in the pic.

When they removed the window and the brick around the window, everything inside was dry. There was no evidence of water in the sides or below. They were pretty confident that it was the window/glass that was defective. They did caulk the glass a couple times but it was in the winter.

So—I should not be worried about anything given that that’s a brand new window and all that brick was rebuilt around it—-but that water beneath the sill just looked weird to me. They even took extra precaution when reconstructing around window. There was a lot of snow on that sill, and not a lot of sun there, but just looked odd in a v like that as no other windows look like that. I just figured a window expert would be able to look at that and know if it was normal or not.

May just want to keep if clear of snow. Water just sitting there freezing and thawing Has it way of getting into places and doing bad things.

Seal the brick sill course with a penetrating densifying agent. Something with a siloxane in it. That will help with the moisture soak through and help it be a bit more resistant to that normal phenomena.
