Thank you for your comments. What started out as a renovation in the kitchen ended up being the den, living room, dinning and bathroom. Just where do you stop? Starting on master now.

Our son was between 2.5 and 3 years old. We went straight from the crib to a twin. Put the twin in the corner against one wall, so only one side was exposed. We went to Ikea, took him along, had him involved in the entire process (although we chose the bed, but got his input on it), including choosing the sheets and duvet cover. It was fun, and he adjusted beautifully. We didn't use bedrails, but I remember putting some large floor pillows next to the bed in case he ever fell out, (I don't recall it ever happening). Have fun, it's a milestone, for sure!

Hi, Paint will definitely go a long way toward brightening things up. Because the windows have a retro shape and placement as do the closet doors you could work with these elements to inspire the rest of the room. Since the furniture is black, using a very light color will add to the clean lines of space. Use a restrained palette on the walls, ceiling and floor. A light Orchid/Gray with white trim would be interesting. A large area rug like a flat weave in wool which available in simple patterns like diamonds or scroll work. Use a slightly warm white for the ceiling since snow white can look cold. Use warm white, light Orchid, and add any other colors in the art, lamps, and a small chandelier for the ceiling light.

Love the suggestions of the other Houzzers above. I agree that a black and white scheme is a little bland. I would start with updating the walkway as I think that will make the biggest difference in your curb appeal. Then after finding a few paint grouping that you like on Houzz make sure to paint a little sample and view it in different light to see how it responds.
