replacement for kitchen faucet-help!

Hi,
I am a recent first time home owner. We have this “restaurant style”(as a plumber has called it) faucet in our kitchen. I like the separate hot/cold knobs but the faucet itself just isn’t functional. It is too low and it’s difficult to wash glasses and clean the outer edges of the sink.

Is it possible to just replace the faucet part with something taller with a built in hose or something? Looking for something to add some functionality and hoping it’s a sort of “plug and play” situation. I am hoping the faucet can just screw off.

Normally I would start googling to find something compatible but honestly I have no idea what to google as I don’t really know what I’m doing. Thank you!

Unscrew the faucet from the center and take it to a plumbing supply house. The place you want is in a low-rent part of the city and doesn't have good signage. The guy behind the counter is probably smoking a cigar and will get a kick out of helping a damsel in distress.

Single lever faucets with pull down sprayer heads are much more functional. Turning on a double handle unit with gunky hands (from prepping chicken, etc.) is an inconvenient mess. With a single lever, you can use the back of your hand, or even one finger, to turn the faucet on. Having an integrated sprayer is more functional, too.

There are also touch faucets, where you just touch the faucet, and the water turns on.
