Hi Everyone,

We have to tunnel under our house to replace the sewer drains. The silver lining is that we have a rare opportunity to change the layout of the bathroom in our slab foundation. I am torn between 2 options, though I am open.

How this Bathroom will be used

- I take lots of baths, so a large bathtub is desirable. a 29x60 bathtub is in the master

- Primarily for Guests, Large family that visits from out of town.

- No plans for children, if we decide to have kids we'd move

- Only guest bathroom, the other is the master.

Design Goals

- Privacy and ease of use for multiple guests. I would prefer no one to use my master bathroom

- Easy to clean, 1 piece shower tub combo preferred, since it will be lightly used. And we have a doubt front door so we should be able to get a one-piece in

- Entry stays roughly the same spot and increases from 24"- 30+"

Current Layout

There is a drain vent on the far wall, which prevents installing anything longer than 65" bath. However, a toilet can fit under there comfortably

Option 1

This one would require minimal changes. The Toilet would only need to be moved over 1-2'. The Tub could be anywhere from 32-48", but no longer than 65". Sticking to a 60" tub would give a lot of design options. A pocket door would create a separate space for shower & tub. I think it would be easier for multiple guests to use, but I don't like the idea of staring at a toilet while I take a bath. Definitely the easier option.

Option 2

The toilet would be in its own space, and not visible during baths. The shower is the full length of the room, but could be no wider than 36". Since a new drain hole would need to be added, we could place the drain wherever. There would be little to no options for a 1 piece, but I could install surround. However, with overnight guests, if someone is in the shower, the entire bathroom is unavailable. It would be more difficult but would feel the most spacious.
