It's a Ligustrum species. Privet. Definitely not an edible.

Ah.. and I thought perhaps these were some odd winter plums... I won't have to hang my hope on waiting for ripe fruits by the summer!

For future reference ...... Plums don't grow in clusters like that and even the smallest are larger than privet berries. Another clue is what is inside the fruit. Plums have pits. Privet and other berries have seeds. Also a key feature of plant identification is leaf arrangement along the stems. Plums are always alternate. Your shrub is opposite.
