This September I separated and pruned all my Haworthia. I cut back all the roots pretty far. By the time I was done no roots were longer than an inch. The only reason for this was to clean them up. My Haworthia have been neglected for a awhile. Let all the pruned and separated Haws callus over in a big bin for about a week and then potted them up. I watered them a few days after that.

So far everyone is fine. I haven’t lost one yet:).

Keep in mind all but one of my Haworthia are run-of-the-mill, and even the one isn’t anything too special. I don’t know if I would have pruned back a $70 Haworthia as hard as I did mine.

I prunned back my haw roots like Kara before this winter. Pulled off all the dead stuff, snipped any living roots very short. I think it is preferable to cut the roots back to stimulate new growth.

I do regret messing with some of my clumps, those are hard for me to get repotted and rerooted nicely.
