How to create adobe style fireplace over an existing one?

Say i have a unit with an existing gas fired fireplace (see pic). I want to create adobe style cover over it (see another pic) How do I go about it? Are there existing products on the market and if not would a regular contractor be able to build something like that? What do i google for? Thx in advance

I have the opposite problem, this is what the previous owners did to the Kiva fireplace and I have to figure out how to make it right.

I doubt that you can adapt what you have. Probably will have to remove and start from scratch.

Just a Goggle find, Tena. I'm a former SunBelter living in Wisconsin. Many trips to N. Mexico & southern Colorado where I fell in love with the unique style of that region.

Have you pared back the additions on your fireplace? If not, I suspect you may be pleasantly surprised when you do. Looks like the bricks are just sitting on the original hearth. Maybe just to raise the wood stove and/ or protect the original hearth. How is the sheet metal attached? Or is it attached? What type of chimney liner?

It looks like the previous owners were careful to do no permanent harm. I hope that proves to be the case. Have you tried contacting them regarding the wood stove addition? As to how it was done, the chimney connection, etc.?
