25) Chamaecyparis lawsoniana 'Wissel's Saguaro' planted high and growing on it's own roots. Planted as a small rooted cutting in 2014. This was before the disease resistant root stock became widely used. It's been doing great. So far so good.

The companions are Pinus parviflora 'Kinpo', Tsuga canadensis 'Pendula', and the gold ground cover is Juniperus horizontalis 'Mother Lode'.

Ryan - Yeah that 'Fish Hook' was one of the coveted treasures I was lucky to bring back from my Oregon trip. Nathan Miller may be grafting more of them as he has a nice old one growing in their display garden. He has a ton of super rare stuff for only $35. Not sure if he ships though. It would be worth shooting him an email to see.

Pic 16 - Yes, I selectively trim a few branches here and there and limb up the 'Ogon'. Good eye.

Pic 1 - It's just a Picea abies 'Little Gem'. Planted in 2012 and still tiny as can be. I love the little guy and it's reliable second flush every year.

Yep, that's 'Peve Starfish'. Definitely in my top 5 maples.

indianagardengirl - This year It had that salmon pink tinge for most of the summer where ever new growth was pushing. It does eventually fade to a creamy yellow green.

Wonderful photos!! Amazing collection of conifers but I think I am a maple girl at heart :-) That is a great form on the Mikawa Yatsubusa and I love the Mayday! I thought I might be coming to the end of my maple collecting addiction but that one is now on the top of my 'must have' list. (I already have an MK and the Peve Starfish).

Pretty stunning garden. If I had more real estate, were a few years younger and with a handful of ready cash, I'd want mine to look a lot like that :-)

Bill - In (23) that's a Thuja occidentalis 'Congabe' Fire Chief™. One of the best conifers for unique color. I started limbing it up when it was young due to dog pee damage, then continued to shape it due to deer damage and now i'm left with a crooked lollipop. I like it though.

gardengal - Glad to have put another one on your list. I was lucky to find a 'Mayday' from from Samantha Hatch of Eastfork Nursery a few years ago. It looks like she currently has some more available. What's that sound? It sounds like your garden is saying it needs one lol. =)

Another one to put on your list is a white variegated sport of Mikawa Yatsubusa called 'Yuki Yama' AKA 'Snow Kitten' AKA 'Elmer'. It's been super elusive for many years but when I was out and about in Oregon, visiting Lucille Whitman's place, I found her tiny single plant hiding in the back of one of her hoop houses. I held it in my hands with the look of a child on Christmas day, then I heard Lucile, "Nope, nope, nope." We both laughed. She said that she may be able to graft a few from it next year. Samantha also has one but she doesn't usually graft. She purchases liners from Buchholz. I like the the treasure hunt. =)

Ron - Here's a nice winter morning view for ya.

pic 8 - Yep Juniperus communis 'Horstmann'. I have trimmed quite a few of the lower wide spreading branches off of it over the years to keep it narrow. It does seem to look a little healthier than the similar looking Juniperus rigida 'Pendula' I've seen in Indiana and Ohio.

That property less the plants is spectacular! Looks like you have a few buds to enjoy the sunrise.

Will, I'm located in podunk Patriot Indiana, about a 45 min drive down the Ohio river from Cincinnati. We have a Post Office and a few stop signs lol.

I purchased the house (4.8 acres) when I was 20 and the appreciation for this little slice of land never ceases to leave me. I grew up In the mountains just outside of Yosemite CA which was jaw dropping beautiful but this continues to be my heaven. Influenced and inspired by so many plant people here and yourself. I loved the amazing work you did with your last place and can't wait to see what you have been doing with your new place. You'll have to indulge us when you get the time.

Yep Ron, Pic 16 Larix kaempferi 'Pendula'. Staked as high as my latter would reach. It used to be much healthier and fuller. It's been having some troubles the past 3 years and lost a lot of branches.

I know what I'm missing Cedrus 'Eisregen

Hi Ron, Sorry for the late reply. Yep, I still have 'Eisregen'. It took a while to get established and is finally starting to put on some height. It's done great for me and has never had any winter damage even when the temps have gone below zero. It's quite a spindly tree but the new growth is a very nice icy blue. Here's a bad photo that I took of it the other day. It doesn't do it any justice. Perhaps I'll get a better shot of it's color this summer.
