Yup....I was thinking that I should stay away at least until a track record of these is developed. Think I will stick with my original plan and look into an LG or Samsung front loader instead. Thanks! :)

I recently bought a new LG set based on 11-12 years of smooth sailing with the last LG set. I started to look at Samsung but started reading reports of problems and poor reviews almost right away. It became pretty apparent that the salespeople I talked to were seeing the same thing. That wasn't the case last time I was looking at machines, but they are not well regarded right now.

Thanks! Yes I was sort of seeing the same thing with reviews and all. I have been leaning more towards LG or maybe the Kenmore/Kenmore Elite version of the LG’s...which seem to cost a little less.

The LG WM3500CW is a Consumer Reports Best Buy. I'd get that for $10 ($809) more than this Midea. The Maytag MHW5630HW is also a Best Buy at $698.

Based on what our washer repairmen told us, buy whatever has the best warranty and don’t buy anything super expensive because today’s machines don’t last. And consider an extended warranty. (In the case of the brand you were referring to, you might want to find out who services it and how much parts are in relation to other brands.)

Thanks! Yes I think for now I will steer clear of the Midea, but I’m leaning more towards the LG WM3900CW instead of the 3500 because it has the Turbowash and the 3500 doesn’t. At the moment the 3900 and it’s matching electric dryer is $1569 at Costco with a stacking kit.

But also looking at the equivalent Kenmore and Kenmore Elite models of the 3900 and the 5.2 cu ft model (the model # escapes my brain at the moment). I like the options on the Kenmores better (soak AND pre-wash option) but now those seem to be more expensive than the LG’s.

Steer clear of Midea! Our washer broke down 17 months after purchasing. The dryer works fine. Customer service is a nightmare so they were no help. My husband said it sounded like a stay at home mom because he could hear kids in the background. We ended up calling a repairman who said it would take 6 weeks for the part to arrive. At the moment we are renting a washer from an appliance rental center. We bought ours from Lowe’s and I am disappointed that they even sell such a low quality product.

Oh yikes Ragni Narayan I’m really sorry you’re having such issues! Yeah we ended up going with the LG and while both the washer and the dryer are great, definitely better that what you are dealing with, the washer’s high final spin now sounds like a helicopter landing on my house! This wasn’t always the case, this super noisy final spin started about 3’ish months ago…before that it was shockingly quiet!

But anyway, hope you can get your Midea washer problem solved real soon!
