Blood orange. I like it, but more than one wall might be too much. I especially like the way the wall worked out in the first picture. It's very striking. Much more interesting than an average kitchen.

It's a great color for the rest of the area but I agree that the black cabinets are fighting with it.

Yes......too dark to do throughout and looks odd on just one wall.

Also, you have too many small items on the walls and on the buffet. This is making your kitchen seem small and cluttered.

Instead of the burnt orange paint, use large art with those colors. Do you have orange in the adjacent living area?

I don't think it looks that off. Finish that wall first. Hang the frame.

And post photos of all walls.

Although I like the orange perhaps a neutral colored background with vivid artwork might work better. Also, the black of the cabinets is so dark they essentially disappear (as in there are few surface highlights). As someone else said there is a lot of clutter. Getting rid of that will help the space.

Get a piece of art with some of that color in it and quite large then it won’t be so in your face. No other walls done though. All that clutter needs to go , no fake flowers or plants.

I'm the odd man out here. I like the color and the darkness. I say go ahead a paint the entire kitchen and see how you like it. It's only paint. Then if you don't like it, paint it a few shades lighter than it is now but in the same color family. I have a "dark" kitchen...to me it has much more personality than white on gray, etc. When I cook, I turn on the lights--that's what they're for!

You’ve gone this far. Finish the cutting in, hang the frame, clear off the clutter. Live with it for a while, then re-assess.

Don't paint the pantry walls and patio (?) wall. Still curious to see the other walls.

Just paint over it . The color is not working :)

i agree with the finish it live with it camp

I think you would be happier with a sage green. If you are questioning it , it must not be right for you.

If halloween is your favorite holiday;-). I like the color but not with black cabinets and the dining set. Go with a neutral wall and hang a bright eye catching art. If u aren’t trying to sale then it’s really about what u like so keep painting if u love the color.

I like the color combination you have chosen but I think you should consider painting the walls one of the lighter colors from your granite and using orange for decor accents like art, tablecloth, pottery or rugs. The black cabinets are pretty and unique.

Rule of thumb to live by from a paint pro: Pick your color and then buy the paint 2 shades lighter. He also told me that the boldest colors on a paint strip are usually for the room's accessories--pillows/throws/etc. That piece of advice has served me well.

You're going to need better lighting, no matter what color you paint. I'd prefer the kitchen bright and lit-up from the ceiling. Undercabinet lights, recessed lights. That's going to make a difference.

Everything is fighting in the color scheme: cabinets vs. orange; dining set vs. black cabinets; countertops vs. dining set. Pick the warm cream from countertop background for your wall color. Add some great curtains in cream and orange as well as other accents.

Consider painting your dining chairs black.

I am biased as I had this colour in my dinning room as an accent wall. The only suggestion I would make is to switch the wall you have painted. Use the one with the patio door for that colour. You can switch the curtains to compliment, accessorize the rest of the room with little touches to bring that colour through the rest of the room. Paint the wall it’s the cabinets a light colour. This will provide enough space between the elements that are conflicting and give you the colour you are looking for.

I’m with the group that says make it light and neutral. Bring in strong color with accessories and art. The room is very dark and has the potential to enhance the beauty of the cabinets when using a neutral. Pick a color from the countertop as housegal suggested.

I need a better understanding of what will stay and what will go. The contemporary edginess of the black cabinetry somewhat fights with the country Windsor chairs. I’m not saying they can’t work together but that there should probably be more give and take in the colors used in the space. Perhaps you should pull colors from your granite for your walls. I you want to punch things up a bit perhaps do that on your island.
What will you do for a window treatment at the patio door? Factor that in as well.

When you next select your paint color perhaps have a better idea of what you want in the finished room in terms of style. Contemporary, farmhouse, traditional, eclectic, somewhere in between. Don’t forget to include your flooring and appliances in your final choices. For example, you have black shiny cabinets & appliances. From the pics it reads as one giant block of black licorice. The granite breaks it up a bit but lighting and colors that complement your granite or pull from the colors in the granite would work.

I disagree that it’s only paint. If you’re doing the painting it’s also a lot of work!! If you’re balking at the colors now, it’s likely you may never love them in the same space. This is when getting lots of paint color samples works in your favor. Get as man as you can and get multiples of the colors you think will work best.

If you really want the orange can you incorporate it elsewhere? Perhaps as an accessory?

I would not paint the furniture if the finish is in good shape. Down the road you’re likely to paint your space again as your tastes change or as trends change & your painted table may be more difficult to work with. Wood may be easier to work with in future.

Did you paint cabinets or have them professionally done? Would you consider redoing the uppers in a color that may be close to a color in your granite.

I’m assuming the clutter is because your space is “in process” so it doesn’t bother me. But lighting is going to absolutely key to pulling off the dark cabinetry. Consider how you can to punch up lighting in the finished space and include that in your scheme.

I don’t personally like the color combination as I think it is too much. I think maybe one strong intense color is preferable and then introduce other intense colors in smaller doses.

You may already know this but thought I’d mention anyway. In terms of painting using strong colors like that on your walls paint in the edges first and paint walls while the edges are still wet so that your finish paint job will blend together better. However, if you do change paint color buy a can of good quality primer at same time. Your going to need it.

A paint could look more casual/ homey with a treatment, or wallpaper that's 'imperfectly not solid' but more like this art.... does that have any bearing?

I think your easiest solution is to paint the wall in a creamy color that you can pull out of the counter top. Paint the chairs black, maybe with a bit of distressing so they are not harsh. Leave the table as is and You can warm it up with some chair pads in a fabric that bring in the rusty color a bit and maybe have panels made for the patio door in the same or coordinating fabric.

The paint color has to go. I would go neutral as the granite is busy. New long drapes would help - maybe a simple backsplash to tie things together. Cabinets could use moulding or something to bring the height up. Tile to carpet is a bit awkward.

hurrah rinq -- you can keep eyes open and vision going -- brainstorm. Your rooms won't look like the ones she posted - but it is a direction you might manage idk within your resources.

Do you possibly see all the black and react by wanting: BOLD !?

Seems lucky houzzers have a photoshop done as visualization - advice and such helps - but a picture is worth alot sometimes.

Are you quite drawn to that color? how did it come about...

52 x 108 in ecru seems like the floor - that would cut down even use of number of neutrals used:

I meant that your house as many don't have marble floors like the Mediterranean one posted. But if that vibe is good, then a bit of it here and there could do it.

You need to do what you love, but in my opinion, the orange does not work here. If you want an accent wall, choose a darker color from the granite. With black cabinetry, I would stay with a lighter color.

Personally I would not continue. Do you have a style. in mind? The darkness of the orange and black makes the kitchen look goth.

I love when someone takes a chance. At this point get professional help to continue. The lightning and balance of color is an issue here. Study The kitchen viewed with black molding. This should help. Although it’s size architecture and ceiling height help carry the color scheme you can execute the look with balance in your home. I personally would only do this in a naturally well lighted room. Then again, sometimes rules are meant to be broken.
