Yes. These are trendy now, but harsh on the eyes. They also are not task lights.

I have glass shade pendants in my master bathroom and I certainly appreciate the increased light for doing my make up. I’d suggest warm, dimmable LED bulbs for these pendants, but if you’re very light sensitive, you should shop a different fixture that doesn’t have clear glass. It would be terrible to install these, only to find they annoy your eyes. (They’re very pretty, though.....)

I have them in my kitchen as well, they look really nice, but they’re definitely more accent lights, I hardly ever turn them on, definitely not task lights.

We just finished our kitchen remodel and I too struggled with the lighting for the island. While I like the look of pendant lights, I envisioned the light glaring in my eyes, triggering a migraine. Ultimately, I opted to go with recessed LED ceiling lights instead of pendants. The lights for the island are on a separate switch from the other recessed lights and are dimmable. I am very happy with this decision and love the options for illuminating my kitchen. I would also highly recommend putting in under cabinet lights that are controlled by wall switches.

Always consider function first. What tasks will you be performing at the island? Prep, homework, eating, projects? If so, I recommend pendant lights with an opaque-translucent shade.

If you're sensitive to light I wouldn't use clear glass shades. I couldn't live with them -- they tend to trigger migraines for me. Have you looked at Rejuvenation light fixtures? You choose your fixture and shade separately, with a good selection of both. Decent quality.

I wouldn't do clear glass shades in that application - too hard on the eyes. Look for something that has a white almost milk glass shade and use a white coated bulb.

You need to upgrade the cabinet hardware at least tol.

This is way too dark. Floors, surfaces, dull stainless, and now these mammalian looking yams?! This entire space is screaming help!
