Which floor choice do you like?? Please Help! :)

last modified: 5 years ago

My husband and I are rehabbing a house. In your opinion which floor would you choose?

The main floor was already laid with the busier of the two floors I have included. It’s a little busy for my personal taste but we are going to sell eventually. Therefore, for resale would you do use the same vinyl upstairs to match the downstairs for a cohesive look or use the similar (less busy) vinyl upstairs? The stairs separating the two floors is currently painted plywood. Would you repaint the stairs and add a runner or completely carpet the stairs?

I placed a sample of the downstairs vinyl on top of the less busy vinyl I am considering for upstairs.

Thank you in advance for any and all opinions.

    Here you go….

Bought this one… I’m afraid it doesn’t look wide enough for the 48” vanity. What do you think?

Might want to try less colorful rug so shower curtain is star? Size looks about right especially since you have that floor heat duct.

Do you like this curtain or does it look too busy or cluttered?

I have always went for a simple styled shower curtain so room doesn't looked closed in…and add color with rug, wall art and towels..the rug is so fun for a young girl! just a black and white shower curtain and maybe add some fun colorful trim on it. I have this one in my one guest room bath that is all white..looks really cute…84” long.

Hey Flo Thanks..the art is so fun! agree if you do a flashy curtain than the rug should be pretty basic…

  • last year

The curtain looks great. Tassel along the bottom is a nice touch as well. Actually really nice with the vanity top. Love the art for an upcoming young lady, very fun!

Thank you Julie for taking the time to put this together. Love it! I will run by my daughter and see what she thinks. It’s been extremely hectic and will be for the next few weeks. Can’t wait to vacay in Florida at the end of the month. Thanks again!

Kim enjoy the sunshine in Florida! we all need it this time of year😎

Received the shower curtain. There is something about the combo of the curtain and rug I don’t love. I thinks it’s the stripes and squares, idk. Too be considered…

The lighting in the photo of the laundry room wallpaper isn’t the best, but which do you like best? I think I want a more subtle look, so I don’t get sick of it in a year.

Went back to look for sources but don’t see them. HIWE can you repost?

The shower curtain is actually fantastic especially for the price. It’s not cheap looking paper white like some others I’ve seen.

Kim I would buy two of the shower curtains...pulled to each side..my tub shower is a very small size not normal tub size.

Can I have the source for the rug too pretty please 🙏

Genius, Julie! I’ll try that. Do you like the height or go higher?

Do you like any of the wallpapers I posted?

you can go higher so the fringe doesn't touch the floor..it will look great…love all these..In the laundry room has some fun!

I’d like to play around with a few other ideas in the bathroom. I noticed that a lot of long narrow bathrooms have a runner instead of a small area rug in front of the vanity. What are your thoughts on the concept of a longer rug?

  • PRO

Nope does not work in your space…this is all you need…balance will come with art on the wall across from the vanity..cute waste basket..double up the shower curtain for a full more drapery like style.

The bathroom has taken a turn.
Print curtain, simple rug (rectangle runner), pink walls.
There is chrome vanity and shower faucet and toilet paper holder that will be on the side of the vanity.
Mirror, pendants and vanity pulls are gold.
Question- Gold or chrome curtain rod?
Would also love artwork recommendations. Thank you!

Which wall to wall carpet would you choose for 3 bedrooms?

Wow. Really, your choices are so perfect that I can't exactly decide.

For the carpet, they are so similar. I think I have very similar to the bottom right on my stairway...it's been very good ... I would just say the one with the least real texture would be my choice. At a glance, I'd go for either one on the right ( top or bottom) but really they are all so good .

I love the shower curtain you found, and I have been looking for a small rug for my powder room...... and now I am strongly considering the McKenzie Chelsea one. I just don't know if it 's too too but it is great and I have white vanity, black countertop, vinyl plank hickory flooring and sea salt walls.....

For the shower rod, again, I can be talked into either way. Initially I though chrome , but now I 'm thinking the gold might be more consistent with the decorative features you have ( mirror, lighting, and pulls).............but I don't think you can make a bad choice.

Btw, that wall color is perfection.

Two houses ago, I painted my bedroom in a smilar color and it was just a great color to live with.

Re: Bathroom - Gold curtain rod looks like it complements the striking mirror.

For the bedroom, whatever is the nicest for your bare feet. They’re all nice, neutral colors but the “feel” is important in a bedroom.

Style-wise I like the upper right the best but in person they can look different.

Which wall to wall carpet would you choose for 3 bedrooms?

Thank you! Stylewise is the one I circled your fave?

For me, yes, but you’re there in person and photographs aren’t always color accurate.

The circled one may be best …because the weave is a little tighter..and may wear better…the one below it also looks good as it shows a little more texture…seems thicker ?

I narrowed down the carpet search, but most likely I will go with Alluring because it might be a touch more timeless.

Would you choose this shelving unit over the toilet or artwork?
Is if go with art over that toilet what would go on the long wall across from the vanity/toilet?

Here is a better picture of the long wall.

Would it get walked into so to speak if it was on the long wall? For that reason, I might think above toilet makes sense and then artwork facing toilet.

Where is the shower curtain from?

If I didn’t put it over the toilet, I would return it.

The curtain is actually a duvet cover. The ceilings in this bathroom are extremely high. I couldn’t find a curtain I liked that was tall enough so I used this duvet cover from Anthropology.

Flo- what would you suggest for the bathroom walls? Shelving next the large mirror and pendants. Then art on the wall across from the mirrror on the long wall. or
forget that shelving and do art next to the mirror and pendant maybe one vertical and one horizontal. Then maybe just 4 hooks and hung towels on the long wall.

    Happy Holidays everyone!!

Hi everyone! I hope everyone is doing well.

We have had water issues in different areas in our home that has created huge problems throughout. We hope to start putting things back together within a month or two. Time will tell if we move back in or sell, but either way I know this will require many decisions - not my strong suit. I will post different projects that will need to be done and I would love and appreciate your input.

The Brazilian cherry flooring will be continued to the family room.
    Decision/thoughts

    1. stain the floor adding java which will help eliminate some
Red but will make it darker.
    2. Paint the cabinets and leave the color of the hardwood floor.

Again not sure if we will be selling when we are finished rehabbing. With that said would painted staggered cabinets increase the listing price? Would I need to replace the countertops? If I stayed I would definitely replace the countertop if the cabinets were painted.

    1. Paint the cabinets and stain the floor (dark)

I am not sure dh will allow the cabinets to be painted. :(
    Brazilian cherry flooring is staying.

I would Paint cabinets leave floors..change countertops.

I would get a lighter color floor that is a lighter ocher something I would leave the cabinets alone it's easier to touch up wood than it is to touch up paint I painted my old cabinets at my old house but they were already painted to begin with and your cabinets nearly match your beams on your ceiling in the living room so a lighter floor would work

Rugs will break up any wood floor. The floors are fine but they are endless. Put a big area rug under just the dining table and see how different it looks.
Painting cabinets is a big job. Would changing the hardware work for you?

I’d go with a lighter-colored floor—maybe a soft ocher tone. I wouldn’t change the cabinets since it’s much easier to touch up wood than paint. I painted the cabinets in my old house, but they were already painted to begin with. Plus, your current cabinets almost match the ceiling beams in your living room, so a lighter floor would really complement the space.
